Realizing that she had just walked in with her shoes on, a long-standing habit, Selim's face flushed with embarrassment.
She quickly turned around and walked back to the door, hastily apologizing:
"I'm sorry, Laura. Our home has cement floors, so we usually wear shoes inside. I forgot for a moment."
Laura Jones didn't blame Selim, especially when she thought about Selim's family background, so she didn't say much.
She handed her slippers and said:
"It's okay, it's just a little thing."
Selim took the slippers and changed into them, then said to Laura Jones:
"Where's the mop? I'll clean the spot where I dirtied it just now."
Laura Jones shook her head and said:
"You've been on a plane for so long, you must be tired. Rest for a bit, and later I'll cook for you."
As she spoke, she had already walked to the balcony and mopped the floor.
