Manbao's eyes lit up, and she immediately pushed Yang Heshu out of the room. She called Eldest Sister-in-law Gao to help undress Ms. Cui to check her condition.
Ms. Cui was stirred and woke from her deep sleep. She saw Manbao and opened her mouth to speak but found her throat dry and itchy, unable to utter a word.
Manbao noticed that her back was also covered with new smallpox rashes; initially, there were only a dozen scattered rashes, but now they were densely packed.
