Igor did not know where Kadi learned this whole set, but from the current situation, it appears that Kadi's set is subtly having an effect.
Regardless of whether the four people in the smoke were willing or not, they now had to dig out their own powers to save this dying maiden because what Kadi brought them was an unending fear.
This fear came from an unknown state. The four of them did not know what they would face next, especially after witnessing the scene where their former master confronted Kadi and others head-on. They were further filled with dread. They couldn't vent their anger on that puppet monster, and faced with the masters who defeated the puppet monster, they had absolutely no hope.
The only thing they could do was comply with their demands, to follow their instructions.
And this was something the four in the smoke were once adept at.
