They were being fed on, used and kept for research, and other purposes, maybe for organ transplant in the future for someone who was a clone, or maybe their bloods procured to make clones for rare individuals. Some of beastial status, while some of noble status, the machines there tested their DNA, replicated it, and the workers there, the religious scientists, all observed it without emotions.
I peeped into their minds, they were dreaming, a deep distant dream. Some were happy, most were unaware of it.
