Mae suddenly opened her eyes, as if she were dreaming. She didn't know how many times she'd dreamt this, sometimes she didn't even know if she was really dreaming anymore.
The egg beside her remained motionless, so she channeled more magic into it, then pressed her cheek against it.

For a long time, she had almost forgotten about the past, the day her former mother-in-law came to her house to arrange the marriage. Initially, she didn't believe in those superstitions because they didn't prove anything. They lacked any scientific basis, yet she had to believe that her former mother-in-law's words were true.
