"If he was already here when Haruki led the attack, then what was the distraction for?" Mikhail asked the lingering question.
And Nikita stiffened.
Agust saw it instantly. The giveaway that his enforcer wasn't telling him more about the situation they were in. Maybe he was over his King, but he had known this enforcer almost their whole lives.
"There is more, isn't there, Nikita?" Agust asked.
"Agust…"
"It's better for you to tell me than for me to find out on my own, don't you think?" Agust said, and Nikita sighed. The day was unfolding completely differently.
Agust was predictable where betrayal existed. There was no telling what he would do, yet with Mikhail here, a part of Nikita was daringly hopeful that the alpha would keep the king in check.
Even when there was no certainty because all of this was about Mikhail and how Mikhail could react.
