Chapter 102 - Chapter(95)

Episode(95)

SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(95)

[So, you never did tell me why you were here in this dungeon]

It took exactly an hour for the long game of tag to end.

This girl, normally so clumsy but when she gets invested she's relentless.

It's like a cockroach.

Luckily she finally gave up after not landing a single hit.

Sitting in the dim silence, she turned to Nagisa.

[Yeah, well-]

She hadn't asked so Nagisa thought she wasn't interested.

[And it's not a memory I like to recall]

The thought of that king, his unreasonable sense of superiority and how he thought of just throwing away a life so casually.

The expression of that pigeon winged b*tch as she sent me to this dungeon where my end was almost a certainty.

That brat that poisoned me, if it hadn't been for her my escape plan would have gone off without a hitch!

Honestly, thinking back it was hard not to want revenge on those people.

But a life focused on avenging a failed murder when he wasn't even close enough to see their faces was all too pointless.

I won't let them go once I escape this rotten place, but I won't let my life be ruled by vengeance.

I still didn't even know what sort of revenge I wanted so spending all day thinking about killing them was just a waste of my precious time.

[Ah! Did I by chance ask something uncomfortable?]

Right, who in their right minds would willingly enter this place?

Wasn't it something he didn't want to talk about?

Thinking up to here it was obvious the reason wasn't a pretty one.

[If-If you don't want to, we don't have to talk about it]

She smiled feeling both embarrassed and sorry for prying.

She just wanted to get closer to him and-

[All of a sudden, aren't you interested?]

Why bother making such a pitiful expression after being nosey? Now Nagisa was the one feeling guilty.

Sigh!

Anyone who saw this scene might think she was the one condemned to this dungeon unreasonably.

So, let's lighten the mood.

[I'm hurt, you aren't even interested in my story]

What?! When did she say this?

Those words made Camilla flustered.

[T-Thats not it!]

Not interested, how could she not be?

Not even fools would enter this place by themselves and even heinous criminals would try to commit suicide before they were tossed in here like cabbage.

This story was bound to be one she had never heard before!

[I Am!]

Especially since he was her savior, if she wasn't even curious about his past this would just make her ungrateful.

[I really want to know more!...]

She lowered her head.

[But, you seemed reluctant and I thought you might not want to think about it so….]

Indeed, it was painful to think about it all.

So many of my classmates yet not a single one stepped forward. Aoi did in the end, but to what extent.

All she did was call my name pitifully. Even now she must be living her best life with that bastard!

It all made Nagisa so angry, even he couldn't control his expressions as smoothly as before.

But, it wasn't right to make a companion worried.

So-

[Ehem! It's not that I mind but, get ready for one heck of a rollercoaster ride]

Gulp!

Just what happened to him for it to be so serious?

[P-Please! I will make sure not a word misses me!]

So serious, I scratched my cheek slightly embarrassed.

To be honest, this story might be filled with nonsense but as someone who lived in this world it might not be so farfetched for her, just a bit of a new experience.

[A-Anyway, let's talk while we walk so we can save time and reach the boss room faster]

Camilla nodded.

[Be on alert for monster, we might be taking it easy but this is still training so I won't warn you when there's danger]

She frowned.

[Okay, okay! I get it already-]

Why didn't this guy just get to the point?

[Regardless, I am a saint so even if I get hurt I can heal myself, don't go looking down on me just because I suck at fighting]

I smiled.

[You said it, not me]

With an angry kick to my shin, we both walked through the dungeon while chatting.

Monsters occasionally attacked and staying true to my words I didn't let out a peep of a warning.

Of course, some people were hurt because I avoided sudden attacks out of nowhere but staying true to her own words, she used her healing power to heal all her injuries.

I did get a few light jabs thrown at me but, I easily dodged.

On the way, the story continued.

From the point where I was an otherworlder at school one day then with a flash of light I came to this strange fantasy world.

Then to the point where I told a lie, was judged as useless by the king and he ordered my execution.

Camilla laughed at how I always seemed so clever but ended up telling such a stupid lie but that costed her a flick to the forehead making her pout with tears in her eyes.

I explained how suddenly, out of nowhere came the mysterious 02 and I was poisoned then without mercy sent into the dungeon by the Valkyrie.

Just thinking about it makes my blood boil, even if I don't kill them I need a hefty amount of compensation to be satisfied.

Hmph!

When I finished my story, Camilla broke down in tears.

But as she recalled her own story to me, it seemed the Valkyrie that sent me here was the same oracle who said that the gods wanted the heroes and the Saintess of light to enter the dungeon years ago.

[She looks down on humans so we never got along, especially since I was so…well, uhm useless]

Really, if that was the case then how did Camilla even communicate with her god if the one carrying the message was so biased.

But, according to Camilla she could actually communicate with the goddess of light directly as the Saintess so long as the goddess contacted her.

However, ever since entering the dungeon that 'connection' allowing communication was cut off so there was no longer any way to get through to the Goddess.

As we talked, I occasionally pointed out traps to avoid and cut down the variants that Camilla could not handle.

We made our way to the final boss room with this steady pace taking several days and nights.

It was possibly already over a week or more.

I even explained about my trials in the dungeon, coming back from the dead and the enhancement of my abilities.

Camilla was amazed by it all and couldn't stop praising me. It was a secret, but I was smugly smiling on the inside feeling my efforts were recognized.

[Did you also make those swords with your ability?]

She had long noticed his weapons.

Before, she thought he had received them on the outside before entering the dungeon.

Now however that she had heard he was sent into the dungeon without preparation she was curious.

There was no way these weapons were present in the dungeon before, or else she would have seen them on the lower floors.

And none of the heroes had such strange weapons so they had to have been made by Nagisa.

[Oh these?]

I nodded.

[I just got an idea, my ability says I can create 'servants' according to my own expertise, but what exactly is a servant?]

Did it mean a living being that could move by its own will and consciousness, or could it just be an object with a pseudo soul used to carry out my bidding.

[And then I followed my inspiration and it lead to the discovery that I could do so much more than just simple necromancy]

She was truly amazed by his thinking.

[Most people just take skills and traits at face value]

As for thinking outside the box, in this class based world where everything either relied on strength or background.

Taking skills and traits at face value was the norm.

Even if one was born with an E-rank 'Needle Arts' skill, people would just think that this person was born to sew, whereas someone born with an lower F-rank Muscle boosting skill would get more opportunities to shine than the latter.

I just laughed.

It wasn't anything new, not in his previous world and not in this one.

[People are naturally boring and not spontaneous enough!]

[You're the weird one!]

Camilla complained.

Well, she wasn't wrong. It was never easy for anyone in either world to think outside of the box.

I only thought of it because I wanted a better weapon to use than my fists.

And even if they could, it depended on their abilities to actually achieve their wishes or even with the drive they would just end up losing in the end.

As for the trait, I was half convinced it would work since it said it could shape the 'servant' according to my will and desire and with my super adaptation trait [Master] at play, I could control my skills and traits down to the minute details and easily make use of realizations I gained instantly.

So it was literally refining ideas in the moment which helped a lot with skill development.

This was why Camilla called him weird, even top skill and magic researchers take generations of families to spark one new idea and correct any imperfections before they can even begin experimentation.

Yet, this guy on the spot could just try something and make it a reality.

[You say that as if I'm some strange alien creature]

No, it's not as if. She shook her head.

[At this point you really are an alien creature]

[How rude!]

Even though I said so, it really felt fun to talk to someone so freely.

Even if it was back in my previous world, being so friendly with others was difficult.

It was always hiding my identity or trying to uphold a reputation for the family.

But now I could smile as I pleased, talk as I pleased and laugh as I pleased.

Too bad-

[Well, that's enough chatter]

We stood before the huge door reminiscent of the doors that I had already entered before fighting previous boss monsters.

[We're here]

Camilla paused and nodded with a serious expression.

A nervous gulp echoed in my ear.

Glancing back slightly, Camilla wore an expression of dread. Surely memories of the past were resurfacing.

However this time would be different, because I was here.

Gripping the hilt of the sword, I pressed a hand on the door.

[Let's go...]
