Except for her grandfather's side, she really didn't have any relatives on her mother's side. "All my mom's relatives died pretty early. My grandma and grandpa passed away when my mom was just a teenager. My mom had a brother and a younger brother—my eldest uncle died before my brother was even born, and my uncle went missing. So honestly, there aren't really any relatives on my mom's side."
My eldest uncle's mom died even earlier than he did. He had two kids, but they also dropped out of school early and went to work in other cities. Just like regular relatives, we only saw each other for a couple minutes during New Year's—never close.
And saying "my uncle went missing" is actually putting it nicely. That uncle started doing business young and was the richest person in the family. But after making money, he got greedy—messed around outside, ended up losing his wife and kid, his company went bankrupt, and finally, he disappeared without a trace.
