Chapter 2 - MYSTERIOUS LADY

"I've been here for a few days, but why can't I still believe there is such a world?" said Lucas.

He woke up enthusiastically and immediately dressed himself. After a long time of staying here, his aunt and grandfather did not allow him to go out due to his condition, which was not yet stable. However, due to his constant persuasion, he was finally able to get his grandfather's permission.

Because of this, Lucas woke up early due to his excitement. In fact, he didn't actually sleep, as his mind was preoccupied with various questions and curiosity. Later on, he decided that the first thing he would do was go to their town library to get information that would serve as his starting point.

While sitting on the bed, he tried to meditate, attempting to connect with his Grimoire again. During his several days of repeated attempts, nothing was happening. The only thing he could see was a mysterious black book sealed with golden chains.

During those few days, he tried to open the book using any means he could think of, but still, nothing happened. However, after several attempts of feeling nothing, he suddenly felt something hot in his chest, which alarmed him. He quickly looked at it and saw a necklace—a black necklace. His aunt Anna said it was the only thing his mother left to him before she passed away.

At first glance, it may seem to be an ordinary stone carved and made into a necklace. However, without careful appraisal, you wouldn't even think that this necklace is a Dao item due to its ordinary structure. The stone was paired with a silver necklace, making it look quite attractive as luxurious jewelry.

Lucas was stunned by this. He didn't anticipate this sudden strange occurrence. After a long while, he just stood there, staring at the necklace, as he didn't know what to do.

Just as he was thinking about dealing with this matter, he suddenly remembered something that the characters in the books he used to read usually do when they encounter items like this. He hesitated for a while, but at the back of his mind, nothing would be lost if he tried that method anyway.

Lucas readied himself for a while.

He didn't know if this idea was plausible, but he didn't have a choice but to do so. After a moment of hesitation, Lucas lacerated himself and then placed a drop of blood on the black necklace. After a moment of waiting, nothing happened, which made Lucas quite disappointed. He was about to keep the necklace but was stopped by the sudden blinding light emitted by the necklace that made him close his eyes. The next thing he knew, he was standing in a seemingly endless room of white.

The room was infinitely white, and the only thing he could do was walk in God knows what direction. After walking for a while, Lucas started to feel worried, as he did not know what to do on this endless road he was walking. However, he was finally elated after seeing a tall pagoda ahead in this colorless world.

Lucas couldn't wait to see if there were also people who were trapped here like him. But after searching the room, he was greatly disappointed, as there was still no one inside the pagoda.

As he examined the room, it was surprisingly filled with countless valuable treasures and antiques from ancient times. As he carefully appraised the items, he suddenly felt a tremor from above. Countless blocks of bricks were falling at an unstoppable pace, but with his exceptional reflexes, he managed to dodge them and safely landed in the corner to see what fell on the grounds.

After waiting for everything to finally subside, he carefully observed the center floor, and to his surprise, there was indeed a person in it!

His eyes widened after seeing a lady there. The lady was surprisingly breathtaking; her skin was flawless, and her body was definitely the most perfect shape he had ever seen in his entire life. Her white hair was like a beautiful lake flowing calmly and shining like the stars above. However, behind those perfect and beautiful descriptions lies a pair of cold violet eyes and... a white, long, exquisitely beautiful serpent tail?

"A human? Well, well, it's been ages since I've seen your weak kind. I didn't know you guys are still at the bottom of the ladder based on your puny strength."

At this point, Lucas didn't know what to do. Well, who in their right mind could think in this peculiar situation?

The place was already silent, yet a loud tension was brewing amidst this situation. They both stared at each other for a long time, but suddenly, the silence was broken by a huge sigh from the lady.

"Tell me. How did a weak person like you enter this place?" she coldly stared at him.

Lucas just stared at her with a mesmerizing gaze.

"Are you going to talk, or am I going to pull that mouth of yours?" said the lady in a very calm way.

"I... I also don't know?" said Lucas.

"Think! It is an impossible feat for a weak human like you to enter here using the dao item. You're far too weak to activate it," the lady firmly said.

"Wait, wait, dao item? Are you referring to that black necklace?" Lucas suddenly remembered how he fell into this place.

"Oh well, I guess your brain still works after all. But how did you manage to activate it? Only those people have the ability to do it. No, not all of them possess such a pure force to activate it," the lady was very confused on her current dilemma. She knew very well that no ordinary person could surpass the strength of his father to activate the dao item unless this person in front of him is a descendant of those people, but clearly, he was not. How could this puny person be a descendant of such a great clan?

Lucas was just staring at the lady with a confused look, as he was completely clueless and oblivious to what's on the mind of his interlocutor.

The lady found this situation ridiculous, as she had been observing him for quite some time, and he clearly does not possess that force nor does he have the blood of that great clan in his veins. He is completely normal, and everything about him is very common. He doesn't even have any special traits; in short, his constitution is simply mediocre!

Lucas felt the discerning eyes of the lady. He knew pretty well that she is assessing and judging his strength, but he couldn't do anything about it as he was too weak compared to her.

"What's your name, little boy?" Lucas was surprised, as the lady had been constantly looking down at him earlier, yet she now has the gall to ask him his name?

"I'm Lucas, Lucas Dy Morningstar," Lucas still answered her out of politeness.

"Morningstar huh? So you're a descendant of that servant. But that doesn't still answer the mystery of your coming here," the lady continued to look down on him.

"Give me your hand," she added.

Lucas frowned but followed her suit, as he doesn't have the sufficient ability to resist her.

She extended her arm and held his warm hands. She then did a thorough investigation on him as though he is an experimental subject in a lab. Her energy silently flowed through his entire body, but after a long time of continuously circulating her energy, she did not find anything. His body was clearly normal.

"I really can't find any useful information on this crappy body of yours, urgh!" the lady frustratingly said.

The girl calmed herself up then asked Lucas once again, "Tell me something about yourself, little boy. Don't even think of lying; I can read your mind if I want to."

Lucas was devastated. He doesn't know what to do and what to say. He clearly knew that this lady was capable of such a feat. He can't simply say that he came from another world, right? He can, at most, tell his current circumstances in this world. Thus, he slowly told his current situation, especially the part where he does not have the ability to summon his Grimoire yet. He also explained how he got here by putting blood on the necklace.

"How was that even possible? You clearly have no relations to them. This is nonsense!" the lady said.

"Wait, if you really used that method, then maybe... no, it's also impossible," the lady was utterly confused on this situation. But after a few minutes of contemplation, she decided to try the assessment again. This time, she would employ another method.

She immediately grabbed his hands and pulled another set of deployment methods using the link of her pure force. Just like what she did earlier, she let her qi flow into his veins; however, this time, the force on her qi was much more potent than it was before.

'This seal! I know this seal! He is the only person on this sanctuary who can inscribe this! How... how come this brat is his descendant?'
