The corridor leading to the third floor had been completely evacuated. Broken glass crunched beneath Jia's shoes as she walked cautiously with Huojin a few paces behind. The sharp scent of disinfectant mixed with smoke lingered heavily in the air. Alarm continued its relentless beeping.
The patient had barricaded the double doors with overturned cabinets and hospital beds. A trail of blood stained the polished floor - enough to remind everyone that this was no ordinary disturbance.
Jia raised a hand, signaling the tactical unit to hold their position. "No one fires unless I give the order."
She stepped forward until only the barricaded doors separated them.
"I am Inspector Song Jia from the Public Security Bureau. I'd like to talk."
