Adam's heart beat ominously.

It pumped blood through his body.
The blood carried something unusual. It flowed through him, nourishing his internal injuries and slowly mending the faint cracks that had formed along his spine and ribs.
Ba-dump! Ba-dump!
It beat vigorously, pumping blood faster and faster. It seemed to have come alive under the violent onslaught of the four-headed monster.
When it sensed the danger Adam was in, the blood suffused vitality to every inch of his body.
It wasn't the vitality that one associated with spring, but the kind that refused to die even in the darkest, most ominous voids.
Ba-dump! Ba-dump! Ba-dump!
The blood that had pooled underneath Adam transformed into tiny tendrils. They cralwed back through the gaping injuries on his body. Every droplet of blood that had scattered on the broken floor returned to the source — to him.
