Liu Shu observed from a distance the ongoing battle. At first, she was surprised by the number of summons these two could summon. Still, feeling that they were construct-like lifeforms, her surprise receded a notch.
Summoning could summon three types. The first type, and the hardest, were dimensional summons like the Arboreal Winged Serpents. These summons were living beings from a sub-dimension who could form contracts and had extraordinary strength that could even surpass the summoner.
The second type were living lifeforms raised by the summoner, which could be put into a summoning space for nurturing. These summons were quite difficult to raise, but high-level summoners could revive them with profound skills. Still, with this method, the summons would have an incredibly hard time surpassing their summoner in strength.
Finally, there were construct-type summons. These summons were a materialization of the summoner's essence into a semi-sentient being. These creatures could be created endlessly, but they were not considered living beings in the strict sense. Their strength was also mediocre at best. However, the advantage was that with these, as long as you had essence, you could summon tons of cannon fodder.
Observing Obsidianis's and Seraphina's summons, Liu Shu classified them as a mix of both the second and third kinds. 'Strange… They clearly have the breath of life, and some of them even have intelligence. However, at the same time, they act similarly to construct-type summons.'
Such a mix of summons was a new view on summoning for Liu Shu. She didn't know that these two had gained personal sub-dimensions where they could basically plant seeds to grow different types of construct-type summons, allowing them to mix the second and third summoning forms while gaining the advantages of both.
Obsidianis's beast-like dark plant summons were closer to being constructs, their intelligence reduced. In turn, the number of summons was incredibly numerous while still retaining beast-like intelligence. Her armies were ruthless and ferocious. Facing the few hundred thousand enemies, each beast-like dark summon would rampage like a demonized tiger among sheep.
Seraphina, on the other side, focused on quality over quantity. Hence, her humanoid plant knight light summons had a touch of humanlike intelligence. It was not comprehensive human intelligence, and instead, it leaned toward battle. Still, Seraphina's light knight-plant humanoid army could form formations and follow tactics, and the strength of each individual was higher than that of Obsidianis's summons.
When these two types of armies worked together, the opponents could only be slaughtered. The beast stampede crashed into their ranks, blowing up any defensive line they had set up using their own bodies as sacrifices.
Then, the light knights would infiltrate that zone and pierce deeply as they swung an incredibly wide array of weapons. Some carried shields, others swords, others spears, and some bows, and some even had magical staffs as they moved as one.
The leaders of the reinforcement army were constantly shouting orders, trying to target Seraphina and Obsidianis with the remaining main cannons of their Mothership-type ships.
That was a mistake.
The second the 14 beams of destruction surged toward Seraphina and Obsidianis, both Sylvans glanced over with indifferent eyes and gently raised their hands.
"
"
Silvery light marred with a strangely dizzying golden energy burst forth in a cloth-like ripple. It felt as if Seraphina were raising some sort of curtain in front of her. Yet, this seemingly thin curtain, when impacted by the destructive beams, only rippled, showing absolutely no signs of being destroyed.
Right by the silver curtain's side, a void opened its abyssal maw, equally dizzying silvery light flashing at its depths. Unlike the veil, which blocked the attacks, the maw absorbed the lights like a black hole, leaving absolutely no trace of the attacks as it closed into a line and disappeared into nothingness.
Then, Obsidianis took a step forward.
Liu Shu had the impression of a dark wave suddenly covering the distance between one mothership-type starship and Obsidianis. The next second, the black-haired woman with an enchanting black dress appeared in front of one mothership, holding a rather large black sword in her hand.
"
SLASH!
Even in space, the sound of a sword flashing reached Liu Shu's sense of hearing. A black vertical light with those unsettling silver light dots passed silently across the mothership.
The next second, as if the shield had failed to do its job properly, the mothership began splitting at the middle, both halves drifting to either side.
Liu Shu's heart trembled for a second. 'Strong. Too strong.'
Stats-wise, Liu Shu could tell that Rhazor was actually above Obsidianis and Seraphina. However, that single attack from Obsidianis had given Liu Shu a sense of threat unlike anything else she had ever felt. 'If that attack landed on my main body… My defenses might actually fail.'
Obsidianis, meanwhile, was thinking to herself nervously. 'Do I look cool? I hope I can impress that beautiful World Tree.'
She could already imagine the World Tree calling her "Big Sister Obsidianis" and swooning over her strength, almost making her drool slip past her lips. 'My bad, I almost lost my dignified looks!'
Meanwhile, Seraphina, seeing Obsidianis show off, couldn't help but sense a feeling of rivalry surge in her heart. '...Is she trying to show off in front of that gentle World Tree? Hmph. Who can't do that?'
Another mothership was suddenly locked onto by Seraphina's silvery eyes. The woman gathered a ridiculous amount of essence and waved her hand. "Disappear.
WHOOOM!!
A beam of pure light, thicker and several times more destructive than the mothership's main cannon, tore through the void like a giant beacon.
The mothership targeted by Seraphina saw its shields collapsing like paper against a pressurized stream of water. Those in the main cabin only saw white light stained by golden specks occupy their vision before they were swallowed by the annihilation ray.
Liu Shu gulped, becoming a bit more fearful about these two. 'That attack might actually be able to punch a hole in the crust of a planet. Why are their attacks so destructive?'
Suddenly, her eyes seemed to flash with the figures of her four wives. '...Right. Their attacks have that strange quality of my wives. It's a hidden force I can still not really determine.'
This puzzled her greatly. After all, this was a quality she had not seen in anyone other than her lovers. For these two who appeared from nowhere to also have it, Liu Shu was both surprised and cautious.
Seeing that Obsidianis and Seraphina didn't have any problems as their armies tore through the reinforcement, Liu Shu looked away toward her lovers. She wanted to make sure the other side didn't have any means to suddenly hurt them.
The battlefield on this side was wrapping up nicely. Since the ants and the rest were not really bound like Liu Shu, they could follow the fleeing army and kill them all.
The retreating enemy naturally threw threats about being in trouble if they didn't allow them to leave, and so on. However, with so many juicy packs of experience in front of them, how could Liu Shu's army let go of them? They all basically sank their teeth ruthlessly and crushed even the bones of their prey.
Verdantia and the other three, especially, were like possessed women as they killed their way through the army. They felt that after this battle, thanks to the surge of Experience Points and their comprehension skills, they would be able to break that thin barrier and become
It wasn't just Harmonixia and the others. Flor, Ignatia, and quite a few others closest to Liu Shu felt the same. After all, most of them knew that Liu Shu had been developing the lake that allowed Xakira to break through. So, if they used it, the results would most likely be phenomenal.
Verdantia looked at Tempestria nearby and spoke. "How do you think the battlefield in Ceperet is going?"
Tempestria, having blown ten people into shreds with her wind attacks, looked at her curiously. "Why? Worried?"
Verdantia sighed. "Somewhat. After all, those assassins actually landed near Liu'er's main body. What if something goes wrong?"
Harmonixia's music sliced the souls of a few fleeing soldiers as she spoke. "Verdantia, you are too worried. However… I think I know why."
Cinderielle, using her heat abilities to scorch three people, asked with a confused frown. "You know? I am feeling a strange sensation… as if someone is about to eat the dessert I left in the fridge last night without my knowledge."
The other three looked at the fire Sylvan deadpan look. However, the feeling was so accurate that they didn't retort. Harmonxiia sighed. "As Cinderielle said, I feel that some kind of… balance? Something is about to break and become chaotic."
Tempestria frowned, worried. "Is this like a bad premonition caused by Little Fatebrushing? That child usually warns things indirectly, right?"
"No…" Harmonixia shook her head. "It's really difficult to put it into words. I mean, it's not like a disaster or something like that…"
The other three only became more confused hearing Harmonixia's words.
Ignatia, having fought her way to a nearby location, looked at the four distracted Sylvans and raised her voice. "Less talk and more killing! Don't let this chance to gather Experience Points slip past your fingers!"
The four quickly reacted and resumed their killing. Not that many people remained. Moreover, Xakira was also nearby. While she was not participating in the killing to not soak away too much experience, she was floating around Sarish and Chost, taunting them. "Look at you two. So slow in killing. At this pace, you might never catch up to me, even if I sunbathe all day long!"
Sarish swung his mantis scythes at incredible speed, killing a high-level Nexus soldier, and answered with an annoyed tone. "That Rhazor beat your ass so thoroughly, and you have already forgotten? If it were me, I wouldn't have needed Little Liu Shu's help!"
Chost nearby punched his fist together, creating a strange resonance that resembled hundreds of cicadas chirping. The soldiers covered their ears, their souls fluctuating badly as soul damage spread out. Then, Chost approached and punched their heads off.
His fighting style was a rare mix of soulmancer and physical attacks. Incredibly annoying to deal with.
Speaking of these two, they had been holding a single flank of the battlefield by themselves, together with their soldiers. They had not been flashy, but they managed to hold the ground they were assigned and held back until they were able to push back and counterkill the Nexus Army.
Now, with Xakira buzzing around them with that annoying teasing tone, Sarish and Chost felt incredibly annoyed. Of course, deep inside, these two big guys were happy for their friend for having gained the strength to fight a Nexus Star Emperor. These people were previously far beyond them.
If it weren't because the Covenant and Nexus were tearing at each other's throats, their territories would've long been swallowed up by these Star Emperors.
Xakira, hearing their complaints, laughed and smiled. 'With this experience, these two will be able to break through for sure. Moreover, Liu Shu is currently lacking Second Ascension powerhouses, so if these two can advance, it is also a good thing.'
