Deathstroke was trying to connect all of this, but there were too many parts that didn't make sense. So he could only treat it as an imaginary detective novel, like a new school detective story—no need to worry about where the settings came from, just follow the logic dictated by those settings.
It's known that there are two Shillers. Though they would say they are the same person, they should still be identified as two characters. Deathstroke decided to call them "Agent Schiller" and "Cheater Schiller," respectively.
These two characters have a trait that allows them to exchange souls through unknown means and control each other's bodies. The process is so quick that it's almost undetectable. Additionally, since they claim to be the same person, both bodies look alike, allowing them to disguise themselves very convincingly when manipulating the other's body.
If we assume that everything Shiller says is true, then the flow of the entire matter is as follows:
Cheater Schiller created an artifact in America. For some reason, the Justice League believed the artifact to have great value. But, by the time they realized its value, Cheater Schiller had already contacted French arms dealer Hesingnag to transport the artifact out of the country.
In this chain, Hesingnag was no good guy either. When he learned that Cheater Schiller had a batch of artifacts of high value and unknown origin, he just wanted to grab them from Schiller's hands and keep them for himself. Although he agreed to cooperate, he secretly contacted Egyptian Museum director Hayven beforehand. Hayven was prepared even before the artifacts arrived; when they were transported to Egypt, they were immediately transferred to a private vault prepared in advance.
Cheater Schiller discovered that Hesingnag was planning to breach the agreement, so he traveled from America and infiltrated the Egyptian Museum as a regular employee to find out if the most important murals were stored in the underground chamber.
Now let's look at Agent Schiller's line. The Justice League deemed the artifact extremely important, so they contacted Agent Schiller. Agent Schiller departed from America later, encountering a series of accidents along the way. This led to a soul exchange between the two characters.
Agent Schiller became a worker in the Cairo Egyptian Museum, while Cheater Schiller arrived in Egypt's Hurgada.
In Egypt's Hurgada, Cheater Schiller assassinated a leader from one of the factions preparing to negotiate, igniting tensions in the Red Sea region, almost sealing it off and creating a tense atmosphere across Egypt.
Agent Schiller caused quite a stir inside the Egyptian Museum, first by damaging the temperature control device, which resulted in the destruction of all the items stored in the underground chamber except the murals; this also led to his body being fired. Then, they swapped back.
Note that since Cheater Schiller and Hesingnag communicated separately, and Hesingnag and Hayven also communicated separately, the three of them never formed a group, so Shiller and Hayven didn't know each other. This enabled him to successfully infiltrate the museum, sabotage the temperature control device without being discovered, and just be seen as a work mishap and dismissed.
However, since the goods in the underground chamber were damaged, Hayven had to contact the owner of the goods, Hesingnag. Hesingnag was acquainted with Cheater Schiller. Upon realizing that Cheater Schiller was responsible, perhaps feeling guilty or enraged at the damage caused to the goods, he had Hayven hire assassins to kill him.
Hayven naturally agreed, as he was also worried—being the original owner of the murals, Cheater Schiller might find the murals he hid in the private vault. So he decided to take drastic measures, hiring the local Assassin Organization to hunt down Cheater Schiller, who had already been expelled from Cairo.
At this point, Agent Schiller arrived in Cairo and returned to the museum. To enter, he disguised himself as former employee Cheater Schiller. Evidently, this is how he convinced the guards to let him through.
Hayven couldn't possibly announce aloud that he brought secret goods in through illicit means only for the victim to show up and break them. Thus, the guards were unaware of the true events. Evidently, Cheater Schiller had a decent reputation while working there. Hence, just by making up an excuse like "forgotten something here," Agent Schiller, disguised as Cheater Schiller, easily infiltrated the museum, which he did successfully.
Moreover, since Agent Schiller's soul traveled into Cheater Schiller's body when the latter was working here, he could familiarize himself with the location and stash the access card somewhere.
When Agent Schiller returned to his body and controlled it to the Egyptian Museum, he could use these tools to smoothly infiltrate the underground chamber and meet with Hayven and Hesingnag.
Due to his disguise as Cheater Schiller, they thought he was the one seeking to retrieve the goods.
Until this point, actually, there's nothing overly complex; it's just a soul exchange in the middle, with both parties leveraging the other's body to accomplish some tasks.
However, if one is entirely unfamiliar with Shiller, viewing the entire process purely as an observer, it would inevitably seem very strange.
Firstly, Deathstroke. He initially just wanted to find a partner for a mission, admitting he had some curiosity but certainly didn't intend to mess up the commission because of it. Yet the exchange led to Cheater Schiller teleporting to Hurgada, eliminating both a faction leader and Deathstroke's client. He wasn't even able to investigate what the fake commission was about, and it heightened regional tensions, remarkably increasing equipment wear.
In the eyes of Hesingnag and Hayven, the whole affair was even more shocking. They were originally the ones setting the trap, yet someone quietly reached their home base. But instead of taking action when inside, the intruder caused a commotion, and they were discovered.
Originally thought that after violently expelling him, things would settle down, but just after getting the news that Shiller was expelled from Cairo, he showed up swaggering in the underground storeroom. It's like seeing a ghost.
"I think you should kidnap that museum director and ask him," Deathstroke said, "His bones probably aren't tough enough to withstand your agent tactics, right?"
Shiller shook his head and said, "Hayven already knows I've been to his hometown and sent assassins to hunt me down, how could he be unprepared? I'm afraid if I kidnap him, all of Cairo would go into chaos."
"You still care about that?"
"Isn't it you who insists on playing out that broken family ethics drama?!" Shiller replied irritably, "Or do you think your son has the ability to protect himself in the chaos of Cairo amidst seventy or eighty factions fighting?"
Deathstroke was taken aback, then said, "It's for me?"
Then he squinted his eyes, "Are you that kind-hearted?"
"I'm also surprised that, knowing the whole artifact investigation was orchestrated by me, you haven't made a move against me."
Deathstroke opened his mouth, but was embarrassed to admit that he hadn't fully grasped the fact that these two Shillers were the same person. They behaved so differently that he felt they were two people, and therefore couldn't blame one's actions on the other.
"So you're feeling guilty for being a thief?" Deathstroke asked.
Shiller looked a bit helpless, like he didn't want to talk anymore. But Deathstroke quickened his pace, caught up to him, and kept staring at him, so he had no choice but to continue, "You've already proven to me how much you want to be trapped in the mire of parent-child relationships. If your son gets hurt in the impending unrest, you won't spare a single living being in Cairo. If you go on a killing spree, even if I get information about Hayven's private vault, how can I retrieve anything?"
Deathstroke was also at a loss for words; turns out it was due to such a practical reason. But he didn't think his son would encounter any trouble. Even if Cairo descended into chaos, he'd still have a way to keep Joseph safe. Otherwise, all his years as the world's top mercenary would be for nothing.
Actually, Shiller didn't reveal the whole truth. The real reason is that Shiller believes Deathstroke severely underestimates teenagers' destructive power. He thinks that as long as he's strong enough and protects Joseph under his wings, nothing will happen. In reality, even Batman couldn't protect his Robin. All paternal authority ends with the father's arrogance.
Once things start slipping out of Deathstroke's control, he will definitely come to Shiller for help. Shiller would then have to help him save his son. It's better not to create danger from the start. Kidnapping Hayven was too risky.
As for Hesingnag, that guy is just a greedy fool, completely unaware that either Shiller or Hayven could easily crush him. Hayven would never tell him the real address. Going after that guy is meaningless.
So how exactly can we find the vault where the mural is stored? Shiller pondered. This is actually quite challenging, like searching for a needle in a haystack. While Cairo is relatively stable now, it won't be long before the winds of Hurgada blow here. Once things get tense here, finding something will be even harder.
Suddenly, Shiller had a brainwave. Using Behavioral Analysis to find things is too difficult and requires a large amount of sample data for support. And it's tough to investigate locals in a place like this. But Psychoanalysis is different. Shiller just needs to look at the person hiding something to roughly guess where they'd place it.
Shiller decided to make another exchange. Of course, getting that person to voluntarily exchange again is more difficult now. After all, the first time was essentially a kidnapping, relying on surprise; the second time was about mutual needs. While he came over to help find a way, he could also appear in front of Hesingnag and Hayven to mock them.
But this time, it seems only beneficial to the agent. Getting him over again is a bit challenging. But Shiller thought for a moment and came up with a solution. He looked at Deathstroke and said, "Where are those 16 countries' agents chasing you?"
"They probably couldn't catch up to me," Deathstroke said, "They're okay for a vacation in Europe's developed countries. Once they hit this Middle East graveyard, they all become weaklings."
"Point them in the right direction." Shiller scrutinized the old gun in his hand, "Let them chase after me. By the way, if you know any peers here, call them over too and put it on Hayven's tab."
"What????"
