Ye Que followed Chi Zaozao into their room, turned around, and locked the door behind them.
Chi Zaozao got onto the bed directly, without saying a word or asking about the confusion in her heart. She just lay there with a sullen face and fell asleep beside him.
Ye Que noticed her mood, picked up on the sour undertone in the air, but didn't pay it any mind and headed straight for the bathroom.
After his shower, he saw Chi Zaozao had closed her eyes, but he could tell she wasn't asleep. In fact, she probably couldn't sleep at all!
Her mind was probably racing with thoughts.
He chuckled softly, climbed into bed from the other side, slipped under her covers, turned over, and reached out to wrap his arm around her waist.
Chi Zaozao didn't move or make a sound, but she felt him come closer, his lips trailing from her shoulder, stopping on her cheek.
Then he leaned back and gave her ear a couple of playful bites.
