The bat wasn't noticeably slower than the attacks of the Elder.
The difference was in the attack power of a Peak Immortal, and what Karl could output, even with the combined bonus from an entire Clan's damage applied by [Rampage], plus the benefits of [Predation].
The {Amulet of Destruction} was working wonders for him, its ability to increase a spell by one subrank in the Immortal Realm had brought his [Warbeast] enhanced cat demon form to the physique of a mid Ascended Rank Immortal as base, with all the buffs stacked on it.
That left his skills a bit on the weaker side, but his actual attacks, and his physical defence, as well as his health pool, were absolutely monstrous.
Thanks to [Limited Invulnerability], most of the Sect Leader's attacks wouldn't even damage his barriers if he didn't actively use a skill, so the Elder was forced to burn energy constantly, just to avoid a war of attrition against the roaming World Boss that was Karl.
