The door to the changing room opened with a soft click. Alexander wasn't planning to scare Eleanora. Not after she had saved his brother. And maybe needed someone to save herself now.
There. He saw her. Folded into the sofa corner. Too small and vulnerable. Enough to break his heart into a thousand pieces.
She hadn't removed her gloves yet. Stained deep crimson, dried at fingertips. On a closer look, he could see her hands shivering. Not just hands, she was trembling all over, her breath unsteady.
Alexander closed the door gently behind him. Neither guards nor witnesses, but just them.
He quietly walked ahead as if approaching something fragile enough to disappear at the slightest misstep and stopped in front of her. But she didn't even blink.
Alexander inhaled deeply before taking a seat next to her, keeping safe distance even when he was too large for the sofa.
