The Shadow figure crashed into the ground with enough force to fracture the stone beneath it. Dust erupted in every direction, rolling through the ruins in thick, choking waves as though something had disturbed a thousand years of forgotten silence.
For several moments, the Shadow remained motionless. Then its body slowly began to rise, its form flowing upward like smoke pulled against the wind.
The darkness that composed its body twisted and gathered itself back into shape.
The Shadow flickered as it looked around.
It was standing in the middle of a ruined city.
Broken towers leaned against one another. The streets had been swallowed by layers of ash and dust, while shattered statues lay half-buried beneath the rubble.
