Chapter 98: The Power of an Absolute Beauty

Yang Fei froze for a moment. Her beautiful eyes stared at Zhang Yang for a while, then she turned to glance at the rain growing heavier outside the window.

Just when Zhang Yang thought she was about to refuse, she nodded slightly. "Alright, let me change my coat."

Saying that, she didn't bother avoiding him. Right in front of Zhang Yang, she took off her red down vest, revealing her curvy figure wrapped in a black tight cotton top. Then she slowly took out a dark green long-sleeved knitted sweater from the wardrobe, put it on, wrapped a pink scarf around her neck, looked at Zhang Yang, and said casually, "Let's go."

Zhang Yang was still processing it. Did she just agree?

She really agreed!

She was a goddess — the legendary campus beauty of the century, the one who drove countless rich heirs, high-class playboys, broke losers, and even lesbians crazy. How could she just say yes like that?

Zhang Yang rubbed his ears. He had just asked politely — did she really agree? Did he hear it right?

He'd never heard of her going out to eat with any man — or even any male creature… cough, except that one time at Qiduo Café, but that didn't really count since they didn't even eat in the end.

"What are you standing there for?" Yang Fei glanced at the dazed Zhang Yang at the door, picked up the Delfi's chocolate from the table, put it in her Chanel bag, and said lightly, "There's an umbrella behind the door."

"Oh!" Zhang Yang grabbed the umbrella and realized it was a designer one too. How did she have so much money?

Yang Fei changed into a pair of purple boots and followed him out. Once the door was locked, Zhang Yang finally accepted it — the goddess really agreed to have dinner with him.

As they went down the stairs, the dorm matron kept winking at him like he was walking into a minefield.

Zhang Yang found it strange. Suddenly, lightning flashed across the dark sky, lighting up the ground like snow.

At the dorm entrance stood a group of men in raincoats — around twenty of them.

Each held some kind of weapon — iron pipes, bricks, even machetes — looking like a gang out for trouble. But they weren't going anywhere. They were all standing there — led by none other than Bai Gang, the department's advisor!

Zhang Yang almost laughed out loud. Damn, what kind of advisor calls thugs to deal with his own student? Only he would do that.

But the sight was no joke. Zhang Yang didn't care about himself, but there was a gorgeous woman beside him. Even the slightest harm coming to her was unthinkable. If he'd known this would happen, he'd never have asked Yang Fei to dinner.

"Zhang Yang, I swear to fucking God, I'm chopping you up tonight!" Bai Gang yelled, waving an actual machete. In the rain, he really looked like some mafia boss.

But the next second, Yang Fei stepped forward. She frowned, glanced at Bai Gang, then at Zhang Yang. Zhang Yang just shrugged, as if saying, "Not my fault."

Bai Gang froze. The curse that was on the tip of his tongue got swallowed back. His hand holding the machete stiffened midair, then dropped, splashing water all over.

His mouth opened, but no words came out. He hadn't expected the great beauty Yang Fei to come down from the dorm herself…

The thugs behind him weren't any better. The rowdy noise vanished instantly. They went dead silent, staring at Yang Fei in shock — completely mesmerized by her breathtaking beauty. That kind of beauty made you forget to breathe.

Yang Fei didn't say anything. She just gave Bai Gang one more look, opened her umbrella gracefully, stepped carefully down the dorm steps, then turned back to the still-stunned Zhang Yang. "What are you standing there for? Let's go."

Zhang Yang instinctively followed. Yang Fei tilted the umbrella toward him, and the two walked side by side straight through the group of gangsters.

Bai Gang watched the pair — they looked like lovers. He blinked, rubbed his eyes, confirmed what he saw, and his face turned ashen.

Yang Fei — of all people! He'd asked her out thousands of times at school, and she barely even spoke to him, let alone stood beside him. Yet now she was sharing an umbrella with another man in the rain.

So he'd been standing in the rain all that time for nothing — didn't even get a crumb, and now he had to watch them flaunt their affection. Fuck this! No way this ends here. He picked up his machete again and followed them.

But halfway there, his grip loosened, and the blade clattered to the ground.

Who could he possibly cut? Yang Fei? Even if she closed her eyes and let him, he couldn't do it. Zhang Yang? That guy might just chop him back.

Zhang Yang had no idea Bai Gang's mind was spinning behind him. He just watched Yang Fei calmly walk right through the armed crowd — none of them even dared breathe. He gave her a mental thumbs-up.

That was what you call goddess demeanor!

When they reached his Chevrolet, Zhang Yang was about to get in but noticed something off. He took a step back, looked down — damn, the tires were flat.

He turned back speechlessly. He didn't even need to guess — that idiot Bai Gang must've done it.

"What's wrong?" Yang Fei frowned at his expression.

Zhang Yang scratched his head and pointed at the tires.

Yang Fei looked down, sighed, and said calmly, "Go fix it first."

"Nah." Zhang Yang checked the rain outside. "Dinner with my teacher comes first."

Yang Fei looked at him, hesitated. "Where to?"

"Qiduo, I guess!" Zhang Yang blurted out, then quickly corrected himself. "Uh… I mean, Prince Hotel."

"Qiduo is fine." Yang Fei's face was unreadable. She took out her Z4 car key from her bag and handed it to Zhang Yang. "You drive."

Guess this was a way to make up for their last failed meal, Zhang Yang thought.

At Qiduo Café, they ordered two steaks, some pastries, and a pot of rose tea — just over two hundred yuan. It wasn't that Zhang Yang couldn't afford something fancier; it just didn't feel necessary. Yang Fei didn't seem to mind either.

Before the food arrived, Zhang Yang excused himself and slipped out — he'd noticed a cake shop nearby that made personalized cakes with fruit jam messages.

In five minutes, he came back with an 11-inch cake, slightly out of breath. Yang Fei frowned when she saw it. "Dinner's enough. Why all this fuss?"

"Can't do that — it's your birthday, teacher." Zhang Yang unboxed the cake and carefully lit the candles.

Yang Fei glanced at the cake. The frosting said, "Happy Birthday, Teacher Yang Fei!" The letters were so crooked it was almost painful to look at.

Even she, usually expressionless, couldn't help the corners of her lips curving slightly. "If you put this much effort into studying, you wouldn't be in this situation."

"What situation?" Zhang Yang asked while lighting candles, genuinely puzzled. Life was pretty great right now.

"Needing tutoring." Yang Fei said, watching him buzz around like a busy bee.

She turned to look out the window at the pouring rain. Somehow, a faint warmth bloomed in her chest.

"Alright!" Zhang Yang counted the candles. "Twenty-four! Just right! Ah, Teacher Yang, you're a little Dragon Maiden."

He remembered it was the Year of the Dragon — no wonder she was so cool and distant.

"Then you must be Yang Guo, huh? What Dragon Maiden?" Yang Fei rolled her eyes. But the moment she said it, she realized it sounded wrong. Yang Guo and the Dragon Maiden… Damn it, this bastard tricked me again. Though, to be fair, he didn't actually say he was Yang Guo.

Zhang Yang didn't think too much about it. After lighting the candles, he asked the waitress to turn off the lights. She refused at first, but when she saw Zhang Yang, she gasped. "Oh my God, you're that handsome guy who saved us last time!"

She looked at Yang Fei and clapped her hands. "I remember now! Last time you two were here, your car got hit by a meteorite! If you hadn't warned us to run, we'd be dead!"

"So, you're back to continue your love story? Your girlfriend's gorgeous, by the way — congratulations!"

Her voice was loud enough for Yang Fei to hear. Strangely, Yang Fei didn't feel annoyed.

The lights went out. Though she thought the whole thing was childish, under Zhang Yang's pleading gaze, Yang Fei reluctantly blew out the flickering candles — officially marking her twenty-fourth birthday.

After dinner, it was already eleven. Zhang Yang drove Yang Fei back to the dorm. As they were about to part, Yang Fei hesitated, then asked, "How are things with Lulu?"

So she knew a bit about his situation. Zhang Yang scratched his head awkwardly. "We're alright."

"Lulu's a good girl. Treasure her."

"I know, Teacher Yang." Zhang Yang nodded.

"Thank you for tonight." She smiled faintly — just that small smile made the gloomy night seem to clear. The ice queen's smile was truly breathtaking.

"Teacher, you're so beautiful," Zhang Yang murmured sincerely. It wasn't lust — just pure admiration for beauty.

"Smooth talker." Yang Fei's smile faded as she closed the door.

"Really beautiful." Zhang Yang muttered again at the closed door. She truly deserved to be called the most beautiful campus flower in a century.

He checked his phone — 11:30. Just about time for his meeting with Chen Tianxiong.
