Chapter 115: The Ice Beauty's Knot

"Before my mom married my dad, she was a rich young lady. My grandfather passed away early, and my grandmother got a strange illness. Not long after my mom married into the Yang family, my grandmother also passed away. My mom inherited my grandparents' large fortune, and my dad's career was thriving. Everyone thought our family of three would live happily ever after, but after my mom gave birth to me, she got the same strange illness my grandmother had."

Yang Jing paused, then continued, "It was a very rare form of leukemia—most likely hereditary. My mom was still so young, so my dad refused to give up. The doctor said there was only one possible solution—bone marrow transplant. But because my mom's blood type was very special, they couldn't find a match anywhere. And since there were no other relatives left on her side of the family, I was her only direct relative. Unfortunately, my blood type didn't match hers either."

"The doctors couldn't do anything. Finally, they said my mom could probably last another two or three years, so they told my parents to try for another child as soon as possible, in hopes of a match."

She sighed softly and continued, "That's how Feifei came into this world. She had no idea her birth was purely for the purpose of saving her mother's life."

"But fate played a cruel joke. Feifei's blood type still didn't fully match Mom's, and in the end, Mom passed away. Before she died, she felt guilty toward Feifei and specifically asked Dad to transfer all her funds and stocks to Feifei's name when she came of age. So from the day Feifei was born, she was already a billionaire."

"That was Mom's wish, but Dad... maybe because he lost her, he became bitter. He thought Feifei was useless—she couldn't even save her own mother—so he grew distant from her. That's why Feifei was raised by our grandparents."

"But seven years ago, Grandma passed away. Coincidentally, Feifei somehow found out she was never supposed to exist. Since then, she shut herself off completely and refused to speak to Dad. By then, Dad had already regretted everything, but it was too late. Feifei had no feelings for him. No matter what he did, nothing could make up for it."

"In the end, she didn't choose the medical field like Dad and Grandpa wanted. Instead, she chose foreign languages on her own—because she wanted to go abroad someday. The year she graduated, she moved out and never returned to the Yang family home, except to visit Grandpa during holidays."

"So Feifei's cold personality—it's all the Yang family's fault." Yang Jing stood up from the stone bench, her expression heavy. "But Dad's getting old now. He's always felt guilty about what he did. He hasn't spoken a word to her in over five years. He never remarried. His only wish is to be forgiven by Feifei someday—but that's easier said than done."

"At least she talks to me now," Yang Jing lowered her head and smiled faintly. "Remember when I set you up on that blind date with her? Want to know why she agreed to go?"

Zhang Yang, who had been quietly listening, nodded. Now he finally understood why Yang Fei was so cold and distant, why she'd cut ties with her family—the truth behind it all was heartbreaking.

"It's actually simple. She looks calm and detached, but deep down, she's incredibly strong-willed. The inheritance Mom left her was about 120 million yuan, but by the time she graduated, her personal assets had reached 200 million. Maybe she inherited Mom's financial talent—she's amazing at investing and managing money. Once, I teased her about it, saying if she was so good at investing, we should each put in 100,000 yuan and see who earns more after a month. The loser would have to do whatever the winner asked."

Yang Jing chuckled a little, a hint of pride in her tone. "She thought she was unbeatable at investing, and I was just a doctor—what could I know about the stock market? So she took the bet."

"By the end of the month, I actually made 3,000 yuan more than her. She was furious! But she honored the bet. I gave her two options—either visit Dad or go on a blind date. Knowing how she hated men, I thought she'd definitely pick visiting Dad. But to my surprise, she chose the blind date—with you. I thought maybe that was fate. After all, you're around her age."

Zhang Yang couldn't help but laugh helplessly. So he'd gotten caught in this without even trying!

"Sister Jing, you knew from the start it wouldn't work out, right? I mean, there's such a gap between me and Teacher Yang Fei."

Yang Jing lowered her head slightly, glancing at Zhang Yang with a hint of embarrassment. "Actually, Grandpa was always worried Feifei would suffer outside alone, so he wanted to find her a good husband. He kept calling her about it. Around that time, I met you at the hospital and thought you were a bright, sunny guy—good with girls, too. So I figured maybe you two had a chance… But if any of this hurt you, I hope you can forgive me."

"And… you might not believe this…" Yang Jing looked a bit shy, lowering her voice. "Before Grandma passed, she had Feifei's fortune told. It said her destined partner would be three years younger and born early in the year. When I thought about it, it matched you perfectly! Plus, your grandpa had also asked me to help find you a wife... It just felt too coincidental. I thought you might really be her destined one."

"You know, looking back now, I still think it makes sense." Yang Jing smiled brightly. "The first time I saw her go out alone with a man, I was shocked. And when she even scolded me because of you, I knew Grandpa would've been thrilled—Feifei was finally opening up."

Zhang Yang wiped a bead of sweat. Him and Yang Fei?

He'd never thought about it that way. To him, Yang Fei was like a goddess—her beauty and cold grace made anyone feel unworthy. Sure, he'd fantasized, but he knew it was unrealistic.

"Yangzi, I've told you all this for another reason too—I want to ask for your help." Yang Jing turned around to face Zhang Yang, her tone carrying a trace of hope. "Right now, maybe you're the only one who can help Feifei let go of her past. As her sister, I have to ask you to do this for her."

"Can you promise me that?" She looked at Zhang Yang, the faint light flickering across her fair face, her eyes shimmering—making it hard not to want to kiss her.

"I'll try my best!" Zhang Yang couldn't refuse her. Truthfully, he already wanted to help. He just didn't know how yet.

But as soon as he said that, the system suddenly chimed in.

[Hidden F-level mission activated: Resolve the rift between Yang Fei and her father. Mission completion will grant an F-level reward!]

Zhang Yang froze. F-level? That meant the difficulty wasn't ordinary at all!
