Chapter 148: Beauty, I'm Here for a Job

"I know you. You're Zhang Yang, president of Nuwa Company, twenty-one years old. You can call me sister!" The second sentence from the fairy-like beauty made Zhang Yang freeze again.

What the hell did she mean? Was she here to recognize a younger brother or to apply for a job?

"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself." The goddess stuck out her pink tongue playfully, then sneaked a glance around as if afraid of being seen (though everyone was already staring), covered her mouth to stifle a giggle, and said, "My name is Xi Chen Jinglan, a master's graduate in Biopharmaceutics from Tsinghua Medical School, specializing in biotechnology and pharmaceutical R&D. I'm currently pursuing my Ph.D., I'm twenty-four years old, and…"

She looked up at the red recruitment notice, dimples appearing as she smiled sweetly at Zhang Yang. "I seem to meet all your requirements. Could I get an interview opportunity?"

"You… you're here to interview?" Zhang Yang finally processed what she said. This fairy-like woman was actually here for a job interview.

Was her eyesight bad or something? Did she not notice this booth was empty?

"Yes, is there a problem?" The goddess looked surprised, pointing at the ad as she read it aloud, "Master's degree or above, any major, height over 1.6 meters, good appearance… location in Meining… I meet all of that."

"Biotechnology and pharmaceutical R&D?" That was a hot field in biopharma research—and exactly what Zhang Yang needed. Qiao Xier in the lab was swamped with Nanxing One production, and now Lingguang One was about to launch. Although Liu Zixuan and Li Zhenni were temporarily handling follow-up R&D, manpower was still severely lacking.

And Tsinghua Peking Union Medical College was one of the top schools—anyone with a master's from there was highly sought after. As long as their work ethic was sound, Zhang Yang would hire them on the spot.

"Yup, genuine article." One of the gorgeous companions beside the fairy added.

"Why are you interested in our company?" Zhang Yang glanced sideways at his recruitment ad. He honestly couldn't think of anything appealing enough to attract such a beauty.

Not to mention, the benefits at Tianming Technologies next door were way higher, and their company was far larger. As for the fame of Nanxing One, sure, it was well-known, but for job seekers, salary and benefits mattered most.

And Nuwa couldn't even offer work in the capital—definitely a big drawback for anyone wanting to stay in Beijing.

The goddess pursed her lips into a smile, then, almost like a thief sneaking around, quickly pulled a résumé from her bag and handed it to Zhang Yang with both hands. "Take a look first!"

Zhang Yang stared at her for a moment, then took it, pretending to read seriously. Truthfully, he hadn't even graduated himself—just an undergrad—so when he saw Xi Chen Jinglan's résumé, well… it was written entirely in English. Was she doing this to mess with him?

If not for the crash-course training from Yang Fei recently, he wouldn't have understood a single word. Even so, the résumé was filled with so many technical terms that it made his head spin.

"Oh, wrong copy." Before the résumé had even warmed in his hands, she snatched it back and swapped it out for a Chinese version like a magician.

This girl… couldn't she have just brought a bilingual one?

Zhang Yang skimmed through it—her academic record was impressive, and her internship experience in several top hospitals in Beijing was downright outstanding.

He was just about to compliment her when—

"Hey, isn't that Senior Sister Yang Jing?"

Another "hey" from the goddess—this time, she completely ignored Zhang Yang and flashed her dimples at Yang Jing.

Ever since Lei Tianming recognized her earlier, Yang Jing had wrapped her face in a scarf and let her bangs cover half her face like a wannabe spy—but she'd still been recognized.

Seeing Xi Chen Jinglan greeting her, Yang Jing helplessly brushed her bangs aside, revealing her enchanting face. She waved lightly. "Hi, Junior Sister Xi Chen."

"Hey, it really is you! That's great!" Xi Chen Jinglan's smile lit up like sunshine. She looked so happy it seemed like she wanted to hug Yang Jing on the spot. "So, you're here in the capital to recruit?"

"Yeah, pretty obvious, isn't it?" Yang Jing glanced at Zhang Yang's hand holding the résumé, then at their once-empty booth—now crowded thanks to Xi Chen Jinglan's appearance. The two girls helping earlier were now scrambling to hand out brochures.

She said awkwardly, "We were originally going straight to Professor He, but he told us to stop by here and try our luck."

"Really? That's great, I've finally found my people!" Xi Chen Jinglan's face brightened, sweet as honey. "So, can you hire me?"

Zhang Yang nearly sweat-dropped. Was this how people applied for jobs now?

"That's not my call—you'll have to ask my boss." Yang Jing looked at Zhang Yang, who was pretending to read the résumé seriously, and giggled.

"Really?" Xi Chen Jinglan turned to Zhang Yang, clasping her hands together like she was praying. "President Zhang, do you think I qualify? Please hire me!"

Please hire me! Zhang Yang nearly dropped the résumé right there.

He looked at Yang Jing, who gave him an encouraging nod. Without hesitation, he said, "Our salary might not be as high as theirs. Would that be a problem?"

For reference, Zhang Yang's base salary for new hires was 10,000 yuan a month—pretty good for average grads, but low for someone like Xi Chen Jinglan, a Tsinghua biopharma master's student. That kind of talent was top-tier nationwide.

"That's fine—but you have to help me find a place to live!" Xi Chen Jinglan said, looking visibly relieved, like she'd finally gotten what she wanted.

That made Zhang Yang a little suspicious. Why did this feel… off? This transaction seemed fishy somehow.

Her conditions were way too simple. It was like she was the one scoring the deal, not him.

Something was definitely up here—he'd have to ask Yang Jing about it later.

"Junior Sister Xi Chen, you're really job hunting? Why not consider Tianming Technologies instead?"

Just as Zhang Yang was pondering the fairy's motives, that ghostly pest Lei Tianming popped up again—looking like he was ready to poach her right on the spot. That bastard!
