Chapter 280 - Chapter 280: The Goddess Arrives

Chapter 280: The Goddess Arrives

Zhang Yang answered the call—it was Lulu. They were looking for the hospital's address. After he sent it, they arrived in less than five minutes.

Two Audi cars arrived. In one were her, Yang Fei, and—unexpectedly—big-boobed Gao Qi.

The other car carried the Doctor and Yanqiang. Gao Qi was the first to get out. Seeing Zhang Yang, she rushed over without restraint, checking whether he'd lost any body parts—almost reaching down his pants to check there too.

"Scared me to death. I thought I'd have to be a widow." She glared fiercely at him, clenched her pink fist, and lowered her voice. "If you dare get yourself killed, I'll find ten men and give you ten green hats."

Hearing this, Zhang Yang froze, speechless. Too vicious. "Do you have to be that toxic?"

"Hmph, biased bastard. Luckily, I was right next to Lulu when you called."

"If I tell Lulu, it's the same as telling you." Zhang Yang explained helplessly. It was true—if Lulu knew something, Gao Qi usually knew too. These two girls seemed to have some strange telepathic bond. He'd have to watch for that.

Gao Qi pouted. "Forget it. I won't argue. As long as you're intact, I'm leaving."

"What? Leaving?" Zhang Yang almost fell over. She drove more than two hundred kilometers just to say that?

Gao Qi nodded, then leaned close and whispered, "How could we all stay in your place? Of course we're booking a hotel. Unless you want a wild ride outdoors?"

"Cough… cough… I'm scared of you." Zhang Yang finally understood. "But be careful."

Thinking it over, since he was staying here, he sent Yanqiang and the Doctor to accompany her. Although the military hospital wasn't in the city center, with those two protecting her, there'd be no problem.

"Are you alright?" After sending Gao Qi off, Lulu approached. Yang Fei followed.

Seeing Lulu's worried expression, Zhang Yang smiled and shook his head. "I'm fine." But then his expression dimmed. "But Pan Ningning… she's badly injured."

The hospital was already crowded.

Soldiers, patients, family members—everyone walked past. But once they saw Yang Fei in a purple coat, black cinched skirt, her hair tied up high, revealing a swan-like white neck and those long legs—

Almost everyone froze. As expected, with that face of hers, she was a walking weapon designed to break necks.

"Let's talk inside." Seeing she was attracting too much attention, Zhang Yang hurriedly led them to Meixin's room.

A young nurse was checking Meixin. Meixin was asleep—her IV contained sedatives.

"Nurse, any issues?" Zhang Yang asked.

The nurse saw Yang Fei and was stunned before shaking her head. "No, everything is stable. She should be fever-free by tonight."

"Alright, thank you."

"You're welcome. By the way, the head nurse said you needed a caregiver?"

Zhang Yang nodded. "Yes."

"They'll come soon."

After the nurse left, Xu Danlu looked at the sleeping Meixin, then at Yang Fei, and smiled at Zhang Yang. "Yangzi, this foreign beauty is truly gorgeous."

Yang Fei added thoughtfully, "Good thing she's pretty, otherwise Zhang Yang might not have bothered saving her."

Though she didn't smile, her tone clearly carried teasing. Zhang Yang actually found it warm. "Teacher, that's me catching a stray bullet."

Yang Fei shot him a glance, lips pursed, and asked, "You said she's from Ukolan?"

"Mm." Zhang Yang nodded. "Ukolan, Odessa."

"Then she should understand Russian." Yang Fei looked at Meixin and shook her head. "Looks seventeen or eighteen… so young, yet a mercenary?"

Just then, Meixin's closed eyes twitched. She opened them, saw Zhang Yang and the others, and froze. After a hesitation, she asked, "Zhang… they are?"

"The friends I told you about!"

"Oh!" Meixin looked at Yang Fei, then Xu Danlu—and suddenly understood. "Friends? You mean lovers, right? No wonder you wouldn't agree to my deal… lovers, so beautiful."

Hearing that, Xu Danlu didn't react much, but Yang Fei's beautiful face flushed. Then she fired off a quick string of words Meixin understood—definitely Russian.

Meixin blinked, then smiled in delight and replied in the same language.

Zhang Yang and Xu Danlu exchanged looks—speechless. Multi-language speakers were just on another level.

Previously, Zhang Yang had asked the system how many points he'd need to learn languages. English was cheapest at thirty points. Spanish forty. French fifty. The rarer the language, the more points required.

Russian required one hundred points. He gave up immediately. He only had eighty-two. Not enough to learn anything. What a scam—that many points could be used for so many better things.

And anyway, Yang Fei already knew a ton of languages. According to Lulu, learning them from the system would cost several hundred points.

After chatting with Meixin for a while, Zhang Yang noticed the girl's gaze toward Yang Fei turning into pure worship. As if Yang Fei was a pyramid-scheme goddess.

Probably noticing Zhang Yang and Xu Danlu's helpless expressions, Yang Fei finally stopped.

She glanced at Zhang Yang. "I just explained some things to her. Don't you still have business? Go deal with it."

"No rush. Teacher, what did you tell her?"

Yang Fei peeked at Xu Danlu.

A hint of unnaturalness showed in her eyes. She hesitated, then snapped softly, "What else? I explained our relationship to her."

"Go out now. What you want to know—Lulu and I will find a good time to ask her."

"I…" Zhang Yang hesitated.

He trusted Yang Fei, but worried Meixin might have bad intentions, maybe take them hostage. He didn't know her capabilities. So he explained bluntly, "I don't know her background. What if she becomes dangerous…"

"Relax. She's still a child. And look at her eyes—she can't fake innocence. No killing intent at all. Besides, if anything happens, Lulu won't just stand there."

"Exactly, Yangzi. Teacher Feifei is right. Sometimes women talk easier to women. If you stay, she'll be more uncomfortable." Xu Danlu added. She glanced at him, then whispered, "And my combat skills… I might not beat you, sure, but anyone else…"

She gave a confident, elegant smile. "Anyone else, I fear no one now."

"Fine. Since you say so, I'll leave." Zhang Yang nodded. Meixin was too weak to cause trouble, and Lulu's combat ability was top-tier. Dealing with one Meixin wouldn't be hard. So he left.

Just after closing the door, he felt lucky—because he soon heard ambulances wailing at the entrance. Looking through the window, he saw white ambulances escorted by military Humvees entering the hospital.

Once parked, armed soldiers jumped out, forming a perimeter. The ambulances drove toward the back of the hospital.

"Zhang Yang!" A familiar voice echoed from the end of the hallway. He turned—Ao Tian, long hair flowing, walked toward him.

"Where's Tang Qiqi?" He looked around Zhang Yang. "Don't tell me she was the injured one?"

"Pah! You jinx. She went to handle some personal matters." Zhang Yang scowled. "Didn't you say you had major news?"

"Personal matters?" Ao Tian stared. "Are you crazy? Aren't you afraid she'll run?"

"Not your problem."

"Uh…" Ao Tian almost spat blood. "Nonsense! She's a… killer!" He whispered the last word.

"Relax. Lao Yi is with her. She can't run." Zhang Yang replied. "Now, the major news?"

Ao Tian checked the surroundings, nodded, and said, "Not here."

He led Zhang Yang to the top floor—eight stories high—where they could overlook the entire hospital. Pointing at the busy ambulances, Ao Tian asked, "Do you know how many people died today?"

"Around fifteen or sixteen." Zhang Yang guessed. Eight from Green Group, four snipers—twelve total.

"Fifteen or sixteen?" Ao Tian pulled out a bent cigarette, put it in his mouth, and sneered. "Double it. Thirty-three."

"That many?" Zhang Yang was stunned. He thought fifteen was a lot. But thirty-three? That'd be headline news tomorrow.

"Seven from Spade Eight. Twenty-six from GK Mercenaries…"

"GK Mercenaries?"

"Yeah. They're an overseas mercenary group active in Africa and the Middle East. But the ones sent here weren't their full members. Only seven or eight were actual GK. The rest were domestic fugitives wanted for serious crimes."

"Even among the GK ones, the background is messy. Some from Ukolan, some from Arabia, some from Burma, some from Annan, some from Central Asia. Basically a stew. But that's not what matters."

Ao Tian paused, then said, "GK has always done dirty work around the world, but they've NEVER crossed paths with Huaxia. This is the first time they appeared here—and they came for you. That's unprecedented."

"I couldn't understand why—until we confirmed the identity of one of the bodies."

Ao Tian removed the cigarette from his mouth and smirked. "Let's just say—with this person, wiping out Spade Eight will be effortless. So yes… you really did benefit from misfortune."
