In the days that followed, Lin Runjie whispered confessions into Tan Yanli's ear every day. He stretched her limbs, wiped her body, and changed her clothes to prevent her limbs from atrophying due to lying still for too long.
"Honey, when will you have had enough sleep?"
Lin Runjie held her left hand, performing delicate movements with each of her fingers.
"Dr. Chen said you were just too tired, and you should wake up after two or three days, but it's been almost two months now!"
Sighing, he continued, "Your illness is being treated too, and Dr. Chen said you're almost recovered! Honey, since your body is fine, why won't you wake up?"
Tan Yanli's oxygen mask had been removed, but her face was still a sickly pale. She looked just as if she were asleep, but despite Lin Runjie's efforts to move her around, she wouldn't wake up.
