The entire Pummelo Stadium fell into a stunned, breathless silence as Ash tossed his Poké Ball high into the air. A brilliant flash of light erupted, and the Pokémon that materialized left the crowd gasping in collective awe.
It was a majestic, towering serpent-like Pokémon made of shimmering crystal and reinforced steel-like armor. Its body gleamed with a breathtaking icy-blue hue, crystalline segments running along its length like frozen diamonds, while metallic silver armor plates reinforced its structure. Sharp, elegant ice crystals protruded from its body like natural weapons, and its eyes glowed with a cold, intelligent light. A faint aura of frost surrounded it, causing small snowflakes to swirl gently in the air around its massive form. This was no ordinary Steelix this was something far more rare and powerful.
Drake's eyes widened in genuine surprise. He studied the majestic Pokémon carefully before speaking. "What kind of Pokémon is that? I've never seen anything like it. What's its name?"
Ash smiled confidently, placing a hand on Icelix's crystalline side. "This is Icelix. She's a mutated evolution of Onix specifically, an Ice/Rock type. I used a special item to help her evolve into this form."
Drake let out a deep, amused laugh, crossing his arms. "A mutated Steelix variant with Ice typing? You never cease to surprise me, kid. This should be interesting."
Flashback – The Night Before the Finals
The night before the championship match, Ash had taken his team to a secluded, quiet area away from the main stadium lights. The girls were sleeping peacefully in their shared quarters after the long day, exhausted but happy. Tracey had claimed a separate small room nearby, already lost in his sketches of the day's events.
Ash stood alone under the stars with his Pokémon. The gentle sound of waves crashing in the distance provided a peaceful backdrop. He had been carefully deciding his final six Pokémon for the battle against Drake.
After some thought, he reached into his System space and pulled out a glowing item the Ice Onix Core.
He released his beautiful Crystal Onix. The elegant crystal serpent appeared, her body sparkling under the moonlight. Ash gently placed a hand on her crystalline head.
"Crystal Onix… tomorrow is the biggest battle yet. I have something that can help you grow even stronger. This is the Ice Onix Core. If you want it, it will let you evolve into a new form Icelix. Do you want to evolve?"
Crystal Onix looked at him with trusting, intelligent eyes. She nodded slowly, a soft crystalline hum emanating from her body.
Ash smiled warmly. "Then let's do this together."
He held the Ice Onix Core up to her. The item glowed brightly and merged into her crystalline body. A brilliant white-and-blue light enveloped Crystal Onix completely. Her body began to change growing larger, her crystals becoming sharper and more reinforced with metallic ice armor. Powerful icy energy surged through her as she evolved.
When the light finally faded, Icelix stood proudly before him a majestic Ice/Rock-type serpent with shimmering crystalline armor, silver metallic plating, and an aura of frost. She let out a powerful, harmonious roar that echoed softly into the night.
Ash smiled with pride, gently touching her new icy armor. "You look incredible, Icelix. Thank you for trusting me."
Flashback End
Back on the battlefield, Ash's girls were initially wide-eyed with surprise.
Misty's mouth fell open. "Wait… that's Crystal Onix? She evolved?!"
Sabrina's calm expression broke into a rare, beautiful smile. "The Ice Onix Core huh… she looks magnificent."
Daisy clasped her hands together. "She's so beautiful and powerful now!"
Giselle's eyes sparkled with awe. "Master Ash… that evolution is stunning!"
Then they erupted into loud cheers, waving and shouting encouragement.
Tracey was drawing like a madman, his pencil flying across the page at record speed. "A new Steelix variant?! The crystal structure, the ice aura this is historical!"
The entire crowd was going wild. Whispers and exclamations spread like wildfire through the stands.
"Is that a new evolution?!"
"I've never seen anything like it!"
"Ash Ketchum keeps bringing out rare Pokémon!"
The excitement in the stadium reached a fever pitch as everyone realized they were witnessing something truly special in this championship final.
Drake, still amused but now fully focused, prepared for the next clash.
The battle between Icelix and Onix was about to begin in earnest.

Drake studied the new Pokémon with clear interest. "Onix, let's see what this beauty can do!"
The massive Rock Snake Pokémon roared and coiled across the rocky field, its enormous body towering over Icelix.
Ash stood confidently. "Icelix, start with Ice Beam!"
Icelix opened her mouth and fired a powerful, concentrated beam of freezing energy straight toward Onix. The beam cut through the air with a sharp whistling sound, leaving a trail of frost in its wake.
Drake reacted instantly. "Onix, Dig! Get underground!"
Onix slammed its head into the rocky ground and burrowed rapidly, disappearing beneath the surface just as the Ice Beam struck the spot where it had been, freezing a large section of rock into solid ice.
The crowd murmured in excitement at the fast-paced exchange.
Ash didn't miss a beat. "Icelix, use Iron Tail straight through the ground! Force it out!"
Icelix's tail glowed with metallic energy as she slammed it powerfully into the earth. The impact created a shockwave that traveled underground. Moments later, Onix burst out of the ground with a pained roar, forced out of its hiding spot by the devastating strike.
Drake grinned. "Not bad! Onix, Double Edge!"
The massive Rock Snake charged forward with tremendous speed, its body glowing with power as it aimed a reckless, high-damage tackle straight at Icelix.
Ash commanded calmly. "Icelix, Crystal Barrier!"
Icelix summoned a shimmering wall of thick, reinforced crystals in front of her. Onix crashed into the barrier with immense force, creating cracks across the crystal structure, but the barrier held firm, absorbing and deflecting most of the impact. Icelix slid back slightly from the force but remained standing strong.
The crowd erupted in cheers at the impressive defense.
Ash pressed the advantage. "Now, Diamond Storm!"
Icelix roared powerfully as she unleashed her signature move. Thick, razor-sharp crystals formed around her and shot forward like a deadly storm of diamonds, spinning violently as they bombarded Onix from multiple angles. The crystals struck with devastating precision, piercing Onix's rocky armor and dealing heavy damage.
Drake tried to recall his Pokémon quickly. "Onix, return!"
But it was too late. The full force of the Diamond Storm hit Onix directly. A massive dusty explosion erupted across the field as the crystals impacted. When the dust finally cleared, Onix lay motionless on the ground, defeated.
The entire stadium exploded into a frenzy of cheers and applause. "ASH! ASH! ASH!" chants echoed throughout the stands.
Drake recalled Onix with a respectful nod. "You cornered my Onix beautifully. That mutated evolution of yours is something else. Well played, Ash."
He then reached for his next Poké Ball. "Gengar, let's go!"
The shadowy Ghost/Poison-type appeared with a mischievous grin, phasing slightly as it floated above the rocky terrain.
Ash recalled Icelix with warm praise, gently touching her crystalline head. "You were incredible out there, Icelix. Take a good rest."
Ash then give signal to his best buddy who jumped from his side into the battle field. "Pikachu, you're up buddy! Let's show the croud your power"
Pikachu leaped onto the field with a determined cry, electricity sparking from his cheeks as he faced Gengar.
The crowd went wild once again, the energy in the stadium reaching new heights as the championship final continued.
