The quiet that followed Yuka's exit was familiar, tender, like it was what was meant. The Tetsuyas ate their food in silence, each to their thoughts. The world around them kept going, but theirs was redirected to something else.
Something they knew they had to work around regardless of what came at them. So, when they were done, and each went to their beds, they knew.
Because tomorrow…
Tomorrow would be different.
Tomorrow would have something else altogether for them.
And for the first time in so long, it was okay.
Because this time, they had each other's backs. They were not as riddled with endless puzzles and stressors. There was no Izanami to deter them from anything. They would win, at least that much was certain… right?
Back at the palace, the dungeons were cold.
Elif looked around her like this was a whole new world.
And it was.
This side at least.
