Chapter 401 - Chapter 401: Crazy Princess

Renner

Renner watched the departing group with a serene smile that masked the tempest of dark thoughts swirling within her mind.

Alex, his entourage of dazzling women, and the famed adventurer group Blue Rose were on their way toward the Azerlisia Mountains, acting on the quest she had so generously bestowed upon them.

Renner's golden hair fluttered softly in the spring breeze as she stood on the balcony of the royal palace, eyes never leaving the tiny figures growing smaller in the distance.

They really believed it, she thought, her smile widening slightly, becoming just a shade colder.

The quest she gave them, on paper, seemed vital. After all, the dwarves were supposedly facing desperate hardships, and Re-Estize simply could not afford to lose its supply of dwarven-forged weapons. At least, that was the official story.

In reality?

It was all a carefully crafted lie.

True, the dwarves were having difficulties—but not so severe that their weapon deliveries had halted. In fact, Re-Estize's military imports from the dwarves accounted for a mere 15% of their total armory. Even if the supply line were completely severed, the kingdom would hardly suffer any immediate consequences.

And the Frost Dragon threat?

Oh, that was a delightful embellishment.

It wasn't a single Frost Dragon occupying the mountain range, as she had told them. It was a group—a veritable nest of powerful dragons, ruling the high peaks with icy dominion.

To march into their territory was to court death.

And that was precisely what Renner wanted.

Because death will serve me better than any diplomacy ever could.

Her delicate fingers curled around the stone railing, nails tapping idly as she thought through the next stages of her plan.

She had spent a week gathering information. A week of secret investigations, following the shadows Alex left behind. She knew he was powerful—monstrously so. The stories spoke of how he had single-handedly felled a Skeleton Dragon in E-Rantel, a feat not even Adamantite-ranked adventurers could easily boast.

But more importantly, she had seen how he moved. How he cared for the women around him.

Sentimentality. Attachment. Compassion.

Weakness.

It was so adorable.

He was strong, yes. But he was still human where it counted most. Vulnerable in his heart.

Though she did, Evileye asked whether he was human or not. He didn't confirm or deny it. But it doesn't matter to Renner. Whether Alex is a human or not, from what she observed, he loved his companies deeply.

To bind such a man, Renner needed more than chains or politics. She needed to break him.

And she would.

First, his companions had to die.

The beautiful women that surrounded him—those glittering eyes, those playful smiles, those warm, trusting touches—they were the threads anchoring his sanity, his humanity.

Once those threads snapped, Alex would spiral into despair.

He wasn't a resurrection-capable mage. Even if he somehow stumbled onto a way to bring them back—through Lakyus's Resurrection magic or some other means—it would only delay the inevitable.

An accident here.

A slip there.

A fatal miscalculation.

She would orchestrate every death with exquisite precision.

Besides, the Azerlisia Mountains were the perfect hunting ground.

The quagoa infested the dwarven tunnels like vermin, and the dwarves' ancient enemies would not hesitate to ambush outsiders. If Alex's group fought the Quagoa, the dragons would notice. The dragons would intervene.

No one—not even Alex, magnificent as he was—could defeat multiple Frost Dragons at once without suffering losses.

And losses were all Renner needed.

She knew Blue Rose would not be wiped out completely. Lakyus, ever the stubborn and self-righteous leader, and Evileye would survive. They would not abandon their allies. And Lakyus would resurrect as many as she could.

But Resurrection came at a cost.

Revived warriors were weaker, traumatized, and more vulnerable.

And while Lakyus clung to her notions of righteousness, Renner would carefully, lovingly, destroy every source of support Alex had left.

One by one, the women around him would fall.

One by one, his smiles would fade.

Until nothing remained but a hollow, broken man.

A man she could remake.

A man she could own.

Renner's cheeks flushed faintly at the thought, a shiver of delight racing through her.

My pet.

Her eyes softened dreamily as she imagined Alex kneeling before her, his once-proud gaze dulled with grief and devotion.

In public, she would remain the saintly Golden Princess. A symbol of virtue. A beacon of hope.

In private, she would whisper to him, bind him with silken words, and carve her name into his shattered soul.

And once he truly belonged to her, once he needed her more than air itself... then..

She tilted her head, imagining the scene.

How perfect it would be.

How inevitable.
