Shen Mansion in the Prefecture City of Liaodong Prefecture
About an arrow's distance behind Phoenix Tower of the Shen Mansion, there is a wide and exquisite Hanging Flower Gate. With the autumn air crisp and clear, several neatly dressed servants stand on either side of the gate, while maidservants and old women come and go with various items, depicting a busy daily life. Despite the coming and going, the atmosphere remains peaceful and quiet.
Inside this Hanging Flower Gate is the main inner chamber of the Shen Mansion's rear residence, which naturally is the most strictly regulated area within. Everyone here holds their breath and restrains their voice, not daring to make noise.
Upon entering the Hanging Flower Gate, there is a passageway with corridors on both sides. Walking through the passageway, descending the steps, and rounding a shadow wall adorned with wisteria, one can see the entire courtyard in view.
