"Moreover, both the safe and the motor are large, conspicuous items. Why would these thieves go to such lengths? Why not just open the safe and take the valuables out? Have you considered this point?"
Janice was stumped by the Deputy Director's question, her expression froze and she awkwardly replied, "Maybe the safe's password is too complicated, and those thieves don't have the ability to crack the safe's code..."
After answering, Janice realized her response was full of loopholes.
Those thieves have no ability to decipher the password. However, they carried a cutting tool; if they really wanted the money inside the safe, they could just cut it open. Why go to such lengths to take away the entire safe along with its contents?
The Deputy Director, listening to Janice's answer, and seeing her unnatural expression, couldn't help but laugh:
"See, you can't even convince yourself with that answer, let alone persuade me?"
