Roka's eyes opened in the middle of the night.
It was the fifth night, with only two remaining before reaching Borg.
She rubbed her tired eyes, yawned, and rose to sit upright.
Only the weak, reddish lights on the walls were turned on. Roka could tell it would be a couple more hours before "day" came.
She turned her head to the right, towards Cero's bed, curious to see how he was sleeping.
It had become a bit of a habit for Roka to check on the sleeping Cero anytime she woke up in the night, ever since they had slept in the same bed.
She would, each time, watch him sleep for a moment, debate whether or not to hop into his bed and sleep alongside him, remember that night on Wor when she had…. And decide that it would be better not to make any moves while he was asleep.
By now, Roka was convinced that Cero wouldn't mind sleeping next to her. Still.
But this night turned out different.
