Lu Xiaoyou crouched down, raising one arm to signal the people behind her to stop.
They were already very close to where the kidnappers were, and everyone subconsciously held their breath.
The bodyguards who followed Lu Xiaoyou up the mountain had witnessed the madness of these kidnappers. A previous group had come up to negotiate, only for the kidnappers to open fire outright. Now, the trunks and grass they passed bore the marks of shells and bullet holes.
As soon as the bodyguards stopped, they saw Lu Xiaoyou continue forward on her own.
The bodyguards were startled, unable to vocally stop Lu Xiaoyou, and some wanted to catch up with her, but others held them back.
"Shh! Don't follow her!"
"Miss Lu will be in danger!"
The bodyguard who stopped the others lowered his voice and said, "Have you noticed? Miss Lu hasn't made a sound with her footsteps all the way up. We're all panting from exhaustion, but her breathing is still light."
