My previously unconscious body laid on top Alexa's.
"Alexa...", struggling to rise up due to the exhaustion that Deag's attack put on me
My body seemed to have healed and most of the pain had subsided, so why did i feel like this?
Taking a deep breath in I picked Alexa's unconscious body up taking her into the mansion.
*THUMP*
My heartbeat resonated with something around me, the air was filled with a substance that made my heart confused. I looked down at my arms to see the unconscious Alexa and I could feel my cheeks burning red.
"You'll be fine I promise"
I walked the nearly familiar hall of the mansion to Alexa's room, standing there waiting for the door to open the way it did for me at my designated room, but it did not happen.
I walked back down the halls to my own room
The doors slid open instantly at my arrival allowing for me to enter. As soon as entered I laid Alexa at my bed heading straight to the other room to get cleaned up

After a while of cleaning up I finally managed to clean up the golden blood stains on me, got a change of clothes, and headed back out to attend to Alexa

I walked into my bedroom to see Alexa awake
Barely alive
"Alexa..", I rushed onto my bed grabbing her in for a hug
She did not reject my touch
She sat on my bed quietly not saying a word

"Alexa, what happened to you", my eyes stared her down into her soul "Why did you not tell me you were sick?"
I felt guilty for pretending I didn't know about the taint; I just hadn't known at that time that it'll cause these many issues
"Mother said it the great evil that cursed me when I was an infant..." tears slid down her face "She... left me in this estate because of the severity of it all... I WAS ABANDONED!... by my own mother" she burst into full tears
At the mention of 'the great evil' something felt wrong with in me
What was my connection with the great evil
"Alexa..." this was the most powerful person in front I knew, and she sat in front of me sulking. I was at a loss for words
"I was aware that bringing you here could put your life at stake, but your mind... It was different from other..."
"Alexa say no more... I would die for you" I had no idea why I just blurted that out even if it was the truth
"Fern Lun, you don't even know me..."
"I don't have to Alexa; you were the only one who cared... Alexa..."
"Fern Lun don't say it... My life is short, I'm afraid..." more tears slid down her face "I only got hours left, I feel my life force shortening..."
"Alexa, would you shut up" she shut up her face showed every sign of confusion
"Alexa you will not die; you have my word." at the mention of my vow to her she stared at me more intensely as the tears somehow began to flow more than it already was
"Fern Lun no need to make false promises, I've seen all the best healers what you could possibly do that they haven't done? Even mothers' technique could not help at all"

My heart was racing all I could do was reach in and hug the only person that cared for me since I lost everything
My heart racing seemed to synchronize with hers
Everything felt silent like it was only the both of us that ever existed and will ever exist. In my eyes at this moment, she was the most important person.
How could I tell her about my encounter with the Mystery Figure who turned out to be a Mystery Man with an intangible body and a face covered in absolute black darkness?
I could just withhold this information until she was well again then at least she'd have the strength to hate me and probable throw me out
I was still hugging her, when she reciprocated the hug
I was shocked and paralyzed at the same time

My heart beat once, but there was a second one, and it wasn't from me
I managed to pull away from the hug
"You mean it? You can really save me? Do you remember anything yet?", somehow she had managed to give herself hope
"No not yet..." her mood went back to the low depressive feeling it was, changing her focus to the bed to avoid my gaze "But I have my Element now"
A look of shock appeared on her face, she looked back up at me showing that I had gotten her full and undivided attention
"How?"
"After Deag almost killed me in front of the Mansion, I was enlightened..."
This technically wasn't lying just omitting important information
"Deag, what was he doing here?"
"Said he came to get you..."
"Why did he try to kill you?" she asked a little shock and curious
"I refused to hand you over to him...:"
A blush appeared on her face
"What is your Element?", she said trying to change the subject
"I'm not sure..."
"Then how are you confident that you even have one?"

She reached in and grabbed my left hand

"Hey Alexa, don't you think you're moving too fast?"

I did just that
"Try to release your energy like you did with your, but don't bring it out, keep it in, and when you finally feel it, let it out"

With great effort I tried summoning my power while keeping it in
I felt my aura spewing out while i tried to keep it in

Her hands squeezed mine tighter

A whisper came into my ear, but the voice did not belong to Alexa or me, it belonged to the Mystery man from my dreams
He was taunting me again
Even away from all these people, they always seemed to be able to get to me
But what was his motive with Alexa?
Why did he decide to help me help Alexa?
Come to think of it I've never heard anything about her dad...
The taunting seemed to be the motivation I needed

A new-strange yet familiar power emerged within me
This power felt on par with that of Deag maybe more. I remembered Alexa's advice telling me to push the power out when I felt it, so I did just that.
*Gasp*
Alexa let out a huge gasp signifying that the power that I felt inside had successfully been pushed out and given form
"Fern Lun open your eyes..."
I opened my eyes looking at my left hand that had once been intertwined with Alexa, not it seemed to pass through hers
I was shocked... I had actually accomplished this feat thanks to that Mystery Man, who was he?
"Alexa, what is going on? I can't feel your touch"
I tried again until I finally materialized my left hand.
This power of intangibility...
It resembled that of the Mystery Man except my aura was yellow instead of black....
I then looked over at Alexa who was more excited for me than I was for myself
She jumped to me for a hug
*Zoom*
I saw her move, it all felt so slow and almost impossible
It was like my body reacting at a speed that I could not have attained previously all thanks to my element blooming

Everything went back to normal
She hugged me tightly like she didn't want to let me go but she didn't have a choice. I reciprocated the hug. Her entire body was trembling and hot
"Fern...", she pulled herself from the hug to see my face while talking to me "How did you..."
*Thump*
She was so close to me I could hear her heartbeat, see her beautiful blue eyes, and even perceive her scent
"I was kind of enlightened at the point of death..." technically I wasn't lying only if she read my thoughts which she didn't because of her weakened state, probably.
"Enlightenment huh?"
"Yes"
I tried with little effort to absorb the Element back into me, it was a success
After that there was a long awkward moment of silence, we just stared into each other's eyes
Did she feel the way I felt?
Was there an attraction to me from her?
I didn't wait to find out
Slowly reaching in
She froze in front of me not by any magic but voluntary

She did not say even a word...
This isn't right. I was able to stop myself only a few inches from her face
"Fern Lun..." she called out to me in the softest way my name could be called "we... had an agreement..."

I was about to leave my bed turning my back to Alexa when Alexa grabbed me from the back
"Fern Lun, please do not turn your back on me "
"We had an agreement that you and I could not have anything intimate, and I know that, but can you deny what we're both feeling?"
She was quiet
She knew for a fact that the both of us were in two separate worlds
I couldn't ask her for anything more than what we had right now that would be selfish of me
Alexa's body was still feverish and frail my job was to complete my vow to her then I'll depart on a journey to rediscover myself
If what I think she feels for me is true, then there will be no easy way to tell her
After ten minutes of absolutely silence, my back turned to Alexa, and her quivering arms around me from behind I finally gathered the courage to turn around and face her
"You asked for my game plan?"
Re-summoning my element I grabbed Alexa's face and put her forehead against mine making sure my body remained solid.
The moment out foreheads touched Alexa's body started to cool down and she finally had the strength to push me away
"Fern... I said we couldn't...." as if instantly realizing that I was not trying to kiss her this time she shot a questioning look at me.
I noticed another strand of her her darken which was quite confusing
"Fern Lun... What is this power?"
"Who gave you this technique?"
"Did you lie about remembering your life before?"
"Did..."
"Alexa..." grabbing her right hand and squeezing it tight "Alexa, this is my power. This is the power I gained after my near death with your betroth"
She looked a little embarrassed
The look on her face was all I needed to know why she had turned down my love. It was not for love but for her responsibility as an heir
"Alexa..."
"Hmmm?" her eyes forever intent on my every movement down to the tiniest muscle twitch
I need to be right by your side for ten days constantly pouring my Element into you non stop, so far the energy i have put in you has increased your life force do you feel it?"
"Now you think of it, I feel stronger... Do I have to sleep with you here?"
Her face had a tiny but noticeable red blush on it
"I mean if you are uncomfortable, we can..."
"NO!... It's fine.... but why are you helping me?"
