Chapter 385 - 385. Catching Competition

"Finally, the first activity of the Wind Festival has begun, the Catching Competition!"

This is the perfect time of the year to hold such an event. The regional tournaments in various regions have just concluded one after another. This was the most lively time for Fula City every year. The main street at this moment was very lively and also very unprecedented.

"The rules are very simple! The marked Pokémon on the streets of Fula City are waiting for the contestants, but most of them are powerful Pokémon that will not wait for you to catch them so simple. Just the ordinary methods will not work."

At this moment, there were a large number of marked Pokémon wandering around the streets of Fula City.

Ash had already noticed a lot of them on the way here. He saw that this place had included pretty much all of the common Pokémon types in the Johto Region, and even some from the nearby Kanto Region.

Surprisingly the final evolved forms of the Johto Region Royal Family—Meganium, Typhlosion, Feraligatr—are here, and with them was Johto Region's Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon, Tyranitar!

For Ash, just seeing these four Pokémon were enough to intrigue him. Why?

Because not only were they amongst some of the rarest and strongest Pokémon's out there, but also because he had all of them on his own Johto Journey team.

"Contestants, please use the special Poké Balls previously given to you to capture them. You will get the corresponding points corresponding with the level of the Pokémon you catch. So naturally the contestant who gets the highest points before the time runs out wins!"

This rule for this competition is as simple as the competition itself, very easy to understand. Unlike the Bug Catching Contest he remembered doing, where he could only capture one, in this catching competition, the special balls are given in unlimited supply. The one with the highest cumulative score at the end with their captured Pokémon is the winner.

But as the host said, although those high-level Pokémon give the most points, they cannot be caught by ordinary means, like just throwing or even weakening. It pretty much had to be a full beat down.

Ash never had those regular, lower leveled Pokémon in his sight, he had long set his sights on those high-level Pokémon! Right next to Ash, the man from before, Callahan, suddenly whispered something to himself, "Can you hear me?"

"Yeah, I hear you loud and clear," At the Pokémon Research Pavilion in Fula City, a timid researcher was hiding in the dark.

"Mr. Callahan, if I help you, can you really help me with my upcoming speech?"

"Of course, me helping you, and you helping me is a win-win situation, and I'm the one begging you, Mr. Toren!" Callahan was indeed planning to cheat.

"Also, please don't force my Staryu to do something it doesn't want it," the Staryu next to Callaha also belonged to Professor Toren. It was equipped with a hidden camera so that he could remotely help him command in the competition from a long distance.

In short, it was a cheating duo of an uncle who liked to talk big and a researcher who is too timid to speak in public.

Alas who knew how this simple partnership would end.

"Then let the competition begin!" The host announced the start, and Ash set off immediately with Molly on his back.

Ash's eyes shone with a faint blue light that was actually visible to the naked eye, with this improved vision and aura sense, he had already locked onto the Typhlosion not far away. But just as he turned around the alley, a hissing Ekans ran over from the road.

"Jigglypuff, use Gyro Ball!" Molly gave the order from Ash's back. Jigglypuff spun and knocked Ekans away pretty easily. Just in time, she took the opportunity to throw the special ball for the competition, "Successful! Big Brother, I caught an Ekans!"

"Nicley done!" Ash praised her, and suddenly hot flames came in front of him, his target Typhlosion was now right in front of him.

"Pikachu, Quick Attack, Iron Tail!" Ash was not polite at all, his Pikachu rushed up, facing Typhlosion's incoming Flame Wheel without any fear, and swung an Iron Tail from below, knocking Typhlosion into the sky like it was nothing.

Of course, not only was the strength of this Typhlosion far inferior to Ash's one, but Pikachu's current strength was unimaginably high for this level of competition.

"Thunder Shock!" Not even a Thunderbolt, yet it managed to knock Typhlosion unconscious in midair, and then he casually threw the ball he was playing with, successfully making the catch complete.

"That's awesome, Big Brother!" Molly clapped her hands and cheered loudly.

"Now for the next one!" Ash's eyes once again flashed with that same blue light to show his Aura usage, and he rushed towards the next target, the Feraligatr.

However, at the same moment, two Pokémon's Trainers were using a Croconaw and an Espeon to go challenge the Johto Regions Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon Tyranitar. Naturally though this Tyranitars level was far inferior to Ash's one, it still had the power of its label as a Pseudo-Legendary and species characteristics of a great temper.

Seeing that they were unable to defeat the Tyranitar, the two Pokémon Trainers retreated decisively.

But how could Tyranitar with its temper let these two annoying kids go, so it chased after them in great strides.

And of course an accident happened soon enough, cause why won't there be one.

The two Pokémon's Trainers panicked super hard and ran into an alley. The Tyranitar chased after them and then when it couldn't stop, it crashed into a mobile stall. The wire of one of the nearby large lights was torn off and wrapped around its neck, surprisingly tight.

As it moved, the wires became tighter and tighter, and Tyranitar, who was already angry, suddenly went berserk from this irritation.

"The contestants have caught Pokémon one after another. Lets check up on our contestants: the one who has caught the most so far is contestant Callahan, but the one with the highest points is contestant Ash. He is the one responsible for catching almost all of the high-level Pokémon such as Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Meganium, Ampharos, Donphan, etc."

For them, it was obvious that Ash relied entirely on his superior strength. Even the highest level Pokémon here couldn't last two moves of Ash's Pikachu.

Unsurprisingly, even with his Aura concealing his identity, it wasn't perfect. Quite a few people recognized him, especially his signature Pikachu and its overwhelming power.

Unfortunately for them, he was too fast on his feet to ask for any autographs.

Under the guidance of Professor Toren, Callahan used Staryu's power to shine, attracting Pokémon to come closer and catch a large number of Pokémon at the same time.

This method was only usable to catch the lower-level Pokémon's, so although he caught the most, his score was far lower than someone like Ash, who went only for the strong ones. Of course, this wasn't because he didn't want to, it's simply because his borrowed Staryu wasn't strong enough Pokémon to handle that.

"Now!" Just after Ash threw another competition-specific Poké ball and caught a defeated Magmar, he sensed the ongoing rampage caused by the Tyranitar.

Molly, hold onto me tighter!" Ash hurried over with Molly on his back, and with Tyranitar also rushing towards his way.

With a bang, a high wall was knocked down by a berserk it, and Tyranitar and Ash, who were originally far apart, finally met.

"Pika pi!"

Seeing Tyranitar's condition, Ash and Pikachu hurriedly chased after it, "Pikachu, go to a wider place in front and stop it before it does anything more than this!"

The place here was simply too narrow, even if Ash wanted to help it, he couldn't do much. Pikachu rushed towards him with sparks flashing on his body, and with several smaller Thunder Shocks in succession, he guided the rampaging Tyranitar back to the wider main road.

With this, the competition people finally noticed the situation here, "According to the information we just received, a Tyranitar is rioting in the street, and contestant Ash is chasing after it! It appears that Tyranitar is doing this because its neck is wrapped with thick wires!"

Ash was chasing it, making sure that while it's still rampaging, it doesn't cause anymore property damage.

Finally forcing Tyranitar into a spacious place, Ash put Molly down, with a flash of blue Aura filled light under his feet, he jumped on Tyranitar's back. With some Aura in his fist, he punched Tyranitar with terrifying power that combusted out in an instant, and pushed Tyranitar down forcefully on the ground.

"Iron Tail!"

Pikachu didn't need to be told twice, he cut the wire around Tyranitar's neck with one simple upward stroke.

"Don't worry, you're okay now!" Ash withdrew the force from its head and gently stroked it instead.

For a moment, everyone of the onlookers applauded, and Ash took out a special competition Poké Ball for the game and easily caught the Tyranitar that was now calm.

This Tyranitar, in Ash's understanding, should be the highest level here. Ash has almost defeated and caught all the Pokémon with high levels that gave the most points, so there should be no problem in winning the championship.

On the other side, Callahan unexpectedly encountered a fight between a Sudowoodo and a Golduck. Naturally, the Rock-type Sudowoodo was beaten up and down by Golduck and was now in a state of panic.

Callahan happened to hit Golduck with a Poké Ball and saved Sudowoodo from being beaten up any further.

He picked up the ball and looked at Sudowoodo hiding behind the tree, but instead of catching it, he turned around and thought to himself what Ash said before to him about lying and it becoming a habit.

In fact, if Ash was here to seek him now with this Sudowoodo, he would definitely comment on how much of a high degree of compatibility these two had.
