Three Months Later

Three months later, the sky over Chittagong was overcast, though the rain that had been threatening all afternoon had yet to fall. Thick clouds stretched endlessly above, muting the sunlight and casting a subdued gray tone over the city. The faint scent of the sea lingered in the air as the car slowly turned left, leaving the long stretch of Marine Drive behind and entering a quieter residential area.

Seated in the front passenger seat, Ray looked out the window without speaking. His eyes moved across the passing houses, taking in each familiar detail, though there was a certain distance in his gaze, as if he were observing everything through a layer of memory rather than reality. It had been years since he had last come here—years since he had stood before this place and truly acknowledged it as his home.
