Sai froze.
Both his body and his mind entered a state of absolute, unnatural stillness. It was as though time itself had abruptly stopped for him alone, every thought suspended and every muscle locked in place. The world seemed distant and muted, like a scene viewed through thick glass.
It wasn't until Katarina slowly pulled away from him that reality finally rushed back in.
"Good luck."
She smiled softly as she said it, and the moment the words left her lips, Sai felt a sudden burst of energy surge through his entire body. It was as if something deep within his chest had ignited, spreading warmth and determination through his veins.
"Okay, time to destroy that thing."
The corners of his lips stretched so wide they nearly reached his ears, and his entire face quickly flushed a bright red.
Whether the blood rushing through his face came from excitement or pure fear, even he couldn't tell. The feeling was strange and overwhelming, but at the same time exhilarating.
