James stirred, then Jared, both of them pulled out of the sleep-inducing drowsy warmth of the carriage as Eleanor's words landed.
"Right there, Rellick soldiers," she said again, pointing out in the direction of the stables.
Ryan looked out the window.
There they were, standing at the edge of the outer ward road and beside the stables. There was eight of them, fully armoured and helmets in hands as they chatted. Their distinctive armour was obnoxious. Their horses, armoured as well, stood beside them, still saddled, so Ryan deduced that they wouldn't be staying long.
"What are they doing here?" Jared said.
"Probably nothing good." James grumbled.
The carriage rolled past the soldiers and through into the inner inner ward. And there, beside the keep steps, sat a carriage. It was large and luxurious, with firey red colours and the phoenix symbol of the Rellicks.
William slowly woke up out of his nap, disturbed by the commotion.
