Senmei Asahi's hand shot out, gripping Uchiha Chizuru firmly by the shoulder.
In the next instant, the world blurred.
*Zzzt!*
The two vanished in a flash of golden light, reappearing atop a tall tree overlooking the battlefield. The rough bark groaned beneath them from the sudden displacement of chakra.
"Stay here for a moment." Asahi said quickly, not waiting for a reply. His expression was calm — far too calm for someone facing one of the Legendary Sannin.
And then, in the blink of an eye, he was gone.
A new flash erupted behind Orochimaru.
*Swish!*
Senmei Asahi materialized from the air itself, a kunai already gripped in his hand. With ruthless precision, he stabbed straight at Orochimaru's back, aiming for a fatal point.
But Orochimaru's instincts were far too sharp to be caught so easily. His snake-like eyes widened as he sensed killing intent flood the space behind him. Without turning his body fully, he twisted at an impossible angle, his tongue flicking briefly — and his hand whipped the Kusanagi Sword upward to meet the attack.
*Clang! Clang! Clang!*
Sparks exploded through the twilight as steel met steel in a storm of motion. Orochimaru's blade moved like a serpent, unpredictable and coiling. Each strike was fast, fluid — and disturbingly silent.
The impact sent brief tremors through the clearing.
Asahi's kunai was soon cut in half by the legendary sword's edge, the metal snapping with a sharp ping!
Unfazed, Asahi pivoted backward, evading a follow-up strike that would've severed his arm. The gust from Orochimaru's blade brushed past his face, slicing through strands of his hair.
He moved again — a blur of motion, exchanging several sharp taijutsu blows with Orochimaru before retreating to gain distance.
Orochimaru's expression darkened slightly. His opponent's movements were sharp, precise, and unnervingly clean.
Asahi exhaled lightly and straightened, a faint smirk curving his lips. "Orochimaru-sama," he said, his tone calm yet cutting, "you might not know this yet — the Flying Thunder God Technique formula can be sealed directly onto a person's body, and it doesn't fade with time."
Orochimaru's eyes flickered with wariness.
"Although you deliberately exposed a weakness to lure me into attacking you just now." Asahi continued confidently, "I also took the opportunity to leave my Flying Thunder God mark on your body. Which means… you've already lost."
Orochimaru's face stiffened, though he tried to hide it behind his usual mocking sneer. "Oh? Is that so?"
In truth, the Flying Thunder God mark — while formidable — wasn't truly eternal. It existed as a special sealing inscription, and if one didn't understand fūinjutsu, they could never remove it.
(T.L Note: He may just shed his skin to remove the mark)
But Orochimaru… was hardly an ordinary shinobi.
Still, the momentary doubt flashing across his eyes was enough for Asahi to press the advantage.
With a deep rumble, the ground trembled violently beneath their feet.
Then, from the shattered soil, four massive serpents — each as thick as a tree trunk — burst upward with a deafening hiss.
Their scales shimmered in colors of black, emerald, and violet, reflecting the dying sunlight. Their eight lantern-sized eyes glowed with eerie golden light, locking onto the two Konoha ninja with primal hunger.
Uchiha Chizuru, who had been waiting from above, snorted coldly and leapt down beside Asahi. His three-tomoe Sharingan spun rapidly, glowing crimson in the dusk.
"Trying to overwhelm us with numbers?" he muttered. "How predictable."
The serpents lunged.
But before they could reach, Chizuru's gaze snapped toward Orochimaru.
In an instant, Orochimaru's golden pupils dilated, then constricted again — his movement froze mid-command.
The Sharingan's genjutsu had taken hold.
"Now!" Asahi's voice echoed sharply.
Golden light flashed again — swish! — as Asahi reappeared behind Orochimaru. He thrust his palm forward, chakra condensing and surging violently.
Chakra Enhanced Strength!
The impact slammed into Orochimaru's back, sending him flying through the trees. His body crashed into a trunk, cracking it in half before collapsing onto the ground.
*Boom!*
The moment he hit, the genjutsu shattered — but by then, Asahi had already vanished from his sight again.
Meanwhile, the four colossal snakes hissed and reared back — only to be engulfed by roaring flames.
Fire Style ∙ Great Fireball Jutsu!
Chizuru's flames washed over the beasts, forcing them to screech and retreat in pain before dissolving back into smoke, returning to the summoning world.
The forest fell eerily silent, save for the faint crackle of burning leaves.
Then —
"Ugh!" Chizuru let out a low grunt, his hand clutching at his right eye. His breath trembled slightly, and faint blood traced down from the corner of his eye.
Asahi's gaze flickered toward him immediately. "Your eyes—"
"I'm fine." Chizuru interrupted between shallow breaths, forcing a smirk. "Just… overused it."
The truth was, Uchiha Chizuru's mastery of the Sharingan was far from Itachi's or Shisui's level. Casting genjutsu directly through eye contact placed a massive strain on his optic nerves, and against a soul as resilient as Orochimaru's — who had not yet undergone his Living Corpse Reincarnation — the toll was even greater.
But the strategy had worked.
Asahi's Flying Thunder God combined with Chizuru's Sharingan had neutralized Orochimaru's advantage — a plan Asahi had carefully constructed after studying the legendary confrontation between Uchiha Itachi and Orochimaru years earlier.
Genjutsu alone couldn't kill Orochimaru, but pairing it with instantaneous teleportation created openings that even the Sannin couldn't fully counter.
Asahi smiled slightly. "Orochimaru-sama, what do you think of our teamwork? Chizuru-senpai and I have worked together many times now. I'd appreciate an objective evaluation." His voice held both mockery and confidence.
Orochimaru slowly rose from the dirt, brushing dust from his cloak. His expression was darker now, but there was an unmistakable glint of intrigue in his eyes.
"The Flying Thunder God Technique… truly marvelous." Orochimaru said slowly, voice drawn out like a serpent's hiss. "And the Sharingan…" His tone carried seven parts admiration and three parts regret. "Asahi-kun, I didn't expect you to have grown this much. But…" His lips twisted into a grin. "Do you really think this is enough to kill me?"
"Of course not." Asahi replied lightly. "In fact, I'm certain it isn't. But killing you isn't my goal." His gaze hardened, his chakra flaring once more. "I've followed you for years, Orochimaru. I understand your ways better than most."
He stepped closer, voice dropping into a near whisper. "If you hadn't exhausted yourself fighting Jiraiya earlier, I would never have dared to challenge you tonight. But now, with your chakra depleted and Konoha's Anbu closing in, you don't have much room to maneuver."
Orochimaru's face twisted — not in rage, but in irritation. He knew Asahi was right. The faint sounds of distant movement in the forest confirmed that Konoha's forces were on the hunt.
Asahi smirked. "I've already marked you with my Flying Thunder God seal. The moment you lose focus, I can strike again. And Chizuru-senpai's Sharingan… you know its precision well. After all, you once asked me to take his eyes for your experiments."
That made Orochimaru's eyes narrow dangerously.
Inwardly, Asahi thought, 'Still… knowing him, he'll find a way to remove the mark eventually. The man deciphered the Reaper Death Seal — my mark is nothing in comparison.'
Orochimaru sighed, his shoulders relaxing. "Asahi-kun, you've won today. I won't deny that. But tell me — how do you plan to deal with me?"
There was no fear in his tone, only curiosity.
In truth, if Orochimaru unleashed his full strength, the fight could still end in mutual destruction. But as Asahi had stated, the Anbu were near, and Orochimaru could not afford to linger. His options were limited.
"I don't intend to kill you." Asahi replied simply. "I only want one thing — a summoning contract. That's all."
He smiled faintly. "I'll sign it under your supervision, of course. The scroll will remain in your safekeeping."
Orochimaru studied him carefully, then exhaled through his nose. He opened his mouth, and squelch! — a scroll emerged from his throat, slick with moisture. With a flick of his wrist, he tossed it toward Asahi.
Chizuru grimaced. "Disgusting as always…"
But Asahi only kicked the scroll lightly to the ground, unrolling it with practiced caution. His eyes scanned it closely.
Orochimaru chuckled. "So cautious, even now?"
"Better safe than sorry." Asahi replied. "After all, I'm dealing with Orochimaru-sama. I'd be foolish to drop my guard."
The scroll was genuine — the Ryūchi Cave Summoning Scroll. Orochimaru's signature gleamed near the top, and below it, the name of Mitarashi Anko.
Asahi's gaze softened slightly at the sight. Though Orochimaru had abandoned Anko when he defected, it was evident that he had taught her well. Perhaps, deep down, leaving her in Konoha had been his way of protecting her.
"Then let's make this official." Asahi said quietly. He bit his thumb, pressed it against the parchment, and scrawled his name. The ink-like chakra lines shimmered faintly before solidifying.
It was done.
He exhaled deeply, tension leaving his shoulders. With this contract, he could finally enter Ryūchi Cave — one of the three great Sage Regions — and train in Sage Mode.
If he succeeded before the Nine-Tails' attack… he could join Namikaze Minato to suppress the tailed beast. Perhaps even intercept Masked Obito himself, saving countless lives — including Minato's family.
It would be a true repayment for the man who had taught him the Flying Thunder God Technique.
He closed the scroll and tossed it lightly back to Orochimaru. "Thank you very much, Orochimaru-sama."
