The first to move in that deathly still chambers, who dared to break the spell cast, was surprisingly the Valkyrie. Blurring forward, her silver hair flowed behind her as she reached out for the quill. A light blush across her cheeks as she looked up at the council like an addict so very close to getting a new fix.
"I'll sign!" Arrior panted like a literal dog, blush growing in size with every passing moment. She looked almost rabid, like she was so close to committing some heinous crime that it would be for the best to just lock her and throw away the key just to spare the rest of society from her antics. "I'll agree to all of your previous terms! J-just get me and...three-no-twenty! Twenty of my sisters in a battle with the Heavenly Demon!"
"Regrettably." Yasaka's smile was stiff as she waved her hand, sending out a rolling tide of pressure to precisely target the quill before crushing it from a sides at once. "You all have missed your chance to sign. Whatever terms you might've had will be less."
"Yasaka-sama." The priest took a step forward, a cajoling smile nearly splitting his wrinkled face in twain. "Surely, you jest? It is not very fair to only give us five minutes to agree, we weren't given the time to contact our superiors or leaders or anything! None of us could have, in good faith, signed that document. Else we would face reprimand from our respective leaders."
"You had your chance." The kitsune only shrugged nonchalantly, pulling the newly signed treaty with a fragment of her will into her hand. "From my understanding, your leaders had already authorized the terms and conditions, but due to our conflict with the Devils, you all held back. While I'm not one to judge such actions, for you were only looking out for your people, that doesn't mean I have to silently swallow your attempt to take advantage of us. And please don't pretend to be innocent in all this, you all knew what you were doing."
At that, the courier, who looked ready to cry in a similar manner as her daughter quickly fixed her face with a small scowl.
"Be that as it may," Bishop Yarrow continued in that same lecturing tone often used to discipline children. A very, very bold method given that he was probably the youngest person there by far. "It is only fair that since you allowed 'them' to sign, it only makes sense for us to be granted the same opportunity? Besides, do you really want to go through all that work all over again? Both sides were satisfied with the previous terms, so why add more stress to our subordinates?"
"…" The seething Devil glared daggers at the surrounding shameless diplomats. His blonde mane bristling as he cut a hand through the air. Not in some display of strength but just from pure frustration. "How do we know if any of that is true? Why should I believe the word of some Fallen Angel? An ambush against The Strongest Queen is one thing, but to face off against a known Longinus? Especially one known for slaying...deities? That's a different matter entirely! Where's your proof? For all we know, this could just be one giant scheme!"
"Watch your tongue, cub." Iaoel's previously mocking smile morphed into something malformed and malevolent. Like a storm was just over the horizon. "Who are you to accuse Lord Azazel of stooping so low as to lie? Not even your father would dare throw around such an accusation. Do you believe yourself to be Lord Azazel's peer? I was not aware that they'd welcome in a new Satan in their midst."
"I wouldn't dare lay claim on such a prestigious title!" Devils had always been ambitious creatures and his look of exultation at the mere idea was clear for everyone to see. Naked desire in all it's form but it was simply that, a fantasy. There were only four positions and which name did he dare to covet? A trap laid and sprung all in one swift movement. "I merely wish for proof! You can't expect me to go back with nothing but your word, do you?"
"His word is more than enough." She shrugged, stalking around the Devil like a shark smelling blood. "It's enough for your Satans, why is it not good enough for you? But if you so choose, you can go over and speak to the Heavenly Demon himself. Demand proof from him and maybe he'll give it to before he rips your wings from out of your spirit...like he did to your oh-so precious 'Strongest Queen'."
"Is that a real offer?" Arrior butted in once more, nearly hopping in place as she tried to resist the urge to speeding off into the distance. "I'm sure this can wait, no? Just tell me where he is and I'll go look for that proof for you!"
"…"
No one was even the least bit impressed with the Valkryie's display of self sacrifice. They all knew how her kind tended to act. Most of them, especially the older ones were all too eager to face death with a masochistic smile on their face. And even Yasaka could distinctly remember the few times she fought Asgard, how these same winged creatures would often died in excruciating ways but they would still hold this near orgasmic expression. Like they'd been with a sudden dose of dopamine the likes never before seen on this Earth. It was a rather uneasy sight to behold.
"Watch your tongue, crow." Vapula, completely ignoring the blushing warrior, turned his full attention back to his most hated foe. At least in that moment. "Lady Grayfia might be incompacetated at the moment, but she still deserves all the respect and prestige she's earned through her service over the centuries. Speak further on her condition, and I will have no choice but to take it as the attack it is and act accordingly….Now Yasaka, we Devils do not care what deal you made with these...creatures, but our conditions stand firm. Return what was stolen and only then will we sign."
"…"
The noble looked back at the silent diplomats, none of them daring to take a step to act as a unified front against this foe. Instead, he probably saw the sudden shift in the situation. Deals crumbling to dust as the bishop coughed lightly in his closed fist.
"The Church will be willing to talk, while we would readily agree to the previous terms...if that is no longer an option, I can allow my underlings work up a new document...Something far more appealing for both of us."
"The Greco-Roman Pantheon will also draft up new, updated terms ready in the morning."
"As will Asgard...Now where is the Heavenly Demon?"
"…" It probably didn't feel good to be blindsided like this, but it was deserved. Yasaka could barely hold back the cackle threatening to escape her pursed lips. Snarling, Vapula eyes flashed golden. Slits forming in their pupil as animalistic features began to try and break through his control. "You will all regret this! This I swear on House Vapula!"
And with that, and a sweep of his long jacket, the Devil stormed out of the council chambers.
"…" Letting a moment of silence pass, Yasaka turned back to the now much more agreeable diplomats. "You're dismissed as well, please, enjoy your stay in Kyoto. I will see you all in the morning."
