Gu Qian woke up groggy, her nose filled with a pungent smell that made her want to vomit immediately. She opened her eyes and looked around, the scene before her fainting flashed in her mind, and she immediately sat up.
She got up too quickly, her back hit the cold wall, and she inhaled sharply from the pain. She wondered where she was, why this place smelled so bad, the light was dim, and the floor was extremely damp, making her bones ache from the cold.
She moved and discovered that her hands and feet were tied. She struggled mightily to break free from the ropes, her wrists got scraped but she could not escape, leaving her exhausted and frustrated.
The surroundings were damp and cold, wind seeped through the cracks in the walls, making her shiver, hungry and cold.
"So hungry." Gu Qian curled up into a ball, trying to block the wind and warm herself, but this house was the oldest clay building that couldn't block the wind at all.
