"Great goal, Neymar!" Su Luo was the first to rush over and hug him.
"Thanks, captain, for giving me the chance!" Neymar replied with a grateful smile.
However, Chelsea couldn't score again, and the match ended in a draw.
After the game, head coach Conte admitted that the players' fatigue had affected their performance.
Following that, Chelsea suffered two consecutive defeats and dropped to fourth place in the standings.
"This is worrying," Zhan Jun said with concern. "Chelsea suddenly fell out of the top three. It's one of the rare low points for them in the past decade."
Indeed, back-to-back losses had transformed Chelsea from title contenders to a team barely holding onto a Champions League spot. If this continued, they could even lose qualification altogether.
"We have to stay united and bounce back!" Su Luo gave an impassioned speech in the locker room.
"As long as we trust each other, we can get back into the top three!"
The team was inspired by Su Luo's words and promised to give it their all.
In the match against Sunderland, right from the first moment, Su Luo gave up a chance at a solo goal and passed to Pedro, who was in a better position.
"Take the shot!" he shouted.
Pedro responded with a calm finish to give Chelsea the early lead.
"Thanks, Captain!" Pedro said, pumping his fist.
"We're fighting our way back into the top three!" Su Luo encouraged.
Every player gave their all, and Chelsea eventually secured a big win.
After that, Chelsea defeated two more strong teams in succession. Su Luo led the charge, and the veterans all stepped up.
With these victories, Chelsea returned to the top three—just as Su Luo had promised.
"The slump is over," the players cheered as they embraced after the game. "Thank you, Captain, for leading us back."
"I should be thanking all of you for never giving up," Su Luo said modestly.
Getting through this difficult period showcased Su Luo's leadership qualities as captain. His calmness and rational thinking had guided the team through adversity, truly proving that he was the heart and soul of Chelsea.
With his inspiration, Chelsea was only going to grow stronger.
In the next round, Chelsea would face arch-rivals Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Manchester United would be playing West Bromwich Albion, a lower-ranked side.
The day before the game, head coach Conte called a team meeting.
"Tomorrow's match against Liverpool is crucial. We must take all three points! It's essential for the title race."
"Don't worry, Coach—we will win!" Su Luo said with confidence.
In the locker room, several of the younger players were discussing tactics.
"Liverpool's forward Salah is incredibly fast. We need someone to mark him closely," said new signing Matthijs de Ligt.
"I'll handle it!" Neymar volunteered. "I'm just as fast as him. He'll see what I'm capable of!"
"But Liverpool's midfield is strong too. We'll need someone to take control there," De Ligt added.
"I'll take care of the midfield," Su Luo said as he walked over. "You youngsters just focus on using your speed. I'll orchestrate from the center."
"That's great, Captain!" Neymar grinned. "With you holding the midfield, we feel much more secure."
"Yeah, your vision and passing are unmatched," De Ligt added.
Su Luo smiled and patted them both on the shoulder. "Let's go all out and give it everything!"
Early the next morning, fans crowded outside Anfield, waving red flags and filling the sky with chants in support of the home team.
As soon as the match kicked off, Liverpool launched a relentless attack on Chelsea...
