I jerked awake. Not by the alarm. But because of the stomach- lurching hunger that is rising deep within my guts.
Blood. I need blood. And right now.
I reach for my phone on the bedside table. 5:59 AM. One minute till the alarm goes off.
"Are you kidding -" I didn't get to finish when the alarm beat me to it making me groan as I almost fling the vibrating device across the room.
The most perfect time. It was now my body reflex to always wake up everyday few seconds before my alarm went off and honestly, it annoys me.
Something tells me its that demon at work. Im super sure she loves her beauty sleep so much she would sacrifice that same sleep just to get rid of any disturbance.
AKA my phone alarm.
That shouldn't be my problem right now. I've got better problems to face rather than battling with the demon in me to stop waking me up early. Ten seconds early.
Work.
Im starting work today at Xin Group. I lazily roll off the bed trying to fight against the ache. In my stomach. Chest. Head. Throat. And teeth.
I try to keep my fangs at bay all to no avail as they descend painfully tearing through my guts making me moan. I can smell food everywhere. All alive and moving around as if inviting me for a taste. I want to go back to sleep. Really.
I move to the bathroom ready to get ready for the day. Work should naturally start by 7AM so I still have an hour to prepare.
In contrast to the pain coursing through my entire body, i get ready in record time and I'm out of my room by 6:45.
I quickly make my way to the stairs before I pause to feel my fangs.
Nothing. Just blunt human teeth now. Thank God. The demon gives me rest but apparently not the hunger for blood. The entire mansion is already fully lit and some staff can be seen around already starting their daily duties.
I make my way to the kitchen and no one is in. I make myself a cup of coffee. More like a cup of milk and a splash of coffee. Same thing.
"Good morning, Young Miss" A voice from behind me rings out. I turn slowly and find a middle aged woman smiling lightly at me.
"Morning" I reply monotonous. "You must be an high staff?"
"I'm Dorothy, Young Miss. Head of Cleaning Staff" she said still smiling.
"Nice to meet you, Dorothy. And please inform the staff to call me by my first name. Just Hazel" I said already walking off before she realises that I'm not meeting her gaze but my eyes her on the pulsing vein on her exposed neck.
I could take a bite and wipe it off her head but I'm not really interested in listening to any questions why the Head of Cleaning Staff, Lady Dorothy here, has bite marks on her neck or possibly even die a few days later.
Yep. That actually happens. Will explain later.
