Well here's my rewrite chapter, hopefully it's good, may make a second one if my inspiration is still here.
Also im using the sas4 app to use as reference for my mc, still looking for sas4 lore to make my weapons and armor as lore accurate as possible, so if I can't find any I'll wing it.
-chapter begins-
Tell me, have you ever heard of the manga genre isekai?
Well, there are usually three ways you get isekai'd, the first one is you have to die living a horrible life, like being a cancer patient or stabbed to death trying to save a girl.
The second route is the imfamous truck-kin, pretty self explanatory right there, it's only a multi ton thing of steel on wheels feeling romantical with you as its partner!
The third is being summoned to another world, usually by a god who did a cosmic fuck up and needs someone to bail them out, but most times its a war and power hungry kingdom who wants a powerful individual to use till they decide they are a threat to their power and kill them.
So… what route does waking up in raccoon city a month before the events of re0, only to sneeze and finding yourself in an eerie space station, wearing futuristic space armor and holding a gun that looks like it takes five delta force marines to even fire?
Well to understand how this all happened let me take you back about ten minutes ago.
You see I never had parents, leading me into the foster system, and well… many of them were horrible. Most of them treated you like another mouth to feed in exchange for a government check, but they at least fed and cared about you, or they were the extremely abusive type where even their fosters beat you for just existing.
Now I was lucky and got the former, but out of all of the people living in that house, the only two people whom I connected with was the dad and his son.
Now the foster family consisted of the mom and pop, their son and five foster kids(myself included), the dad was a war veteran who served in the Iraqi war, and kept an entire room to himself, holding his old uniform, a collection of guns and his badges he earned while stationed.
And one day I stumbled into his room while he was polishing what he later explained was an M4A1 carbine rifle, and despite him holding a gun I sat down next to him and asked him about his guns.
And he was ecstatic! He went on to explain his time in the war and even told me the history of every gun in his collection, saying he takes pride in his duty and would do it again if he could.
His son on the other hand, was an absolute gamer, and was nice enought to let me play some of the games in exchange for helping him clean his room and stuff he didn't really want to do, but I didn't mind it.
He was a huge fan of survival horror games and sure he would be jump scared from time to time, but we had a good laugh each time, but the one survival horror franchise I loved in particular was resident evil.
Sure it was dark and gritty with enough dark lore to make any man glad they aren't in that world, but I genuinely enjoyed it.
Sure some days were slow and repetitive in that house, but I spent my time either going to a gun range with the dad on weekends or playing resident evil 5 or 6 with the son.
But all things that are good come to an end, as I soon turned 18 and aged out of the system, but it wasn't all bad as the dad and son went out of their way to buy me my first smartphone so I could keep in touch with them.
So I wandered from town to town, sleeping in motels and doing odd jobs to put food in my belly, but it all came to an end when I fell asleep and woke up in front of a road sign.
Welcome to raccoon city
Raccoon city, the place in resident evil where all the destruction began, and one of the places I never wanted to go to, and yet here I was, hyperventilating at what this represents.
I found myself in resident evil
before I could even begin to panic the tall grass surrounding the sign tickled my nose and with a sneeze I find myself here in a eerie space station.
(End of flashback)
"Man could this day get any worse?" I ask myself as I see something shambling closer to me in the distance, "are those…shamblers?" I ask myself as my years at the gun range took hold, but before I could pull the trigger I hear a voice in my head.
[welcome Jason Hayes!]
[ I am your personal system created as compensation by the horror deity, the SAS4 zombie assault system! Do you have any questions?]
"So this is SAS 4!!" I stupidly shout as the single shambler stopped wandering and looks at me and with an inhuman growl it starts shambling towards me.
"Shit!" I whisper as I look at the prompt out the corner of my eye, "can you at least explain to me how I found myself in the world of resident evil of all places?" I ask the system as I pull the trigger on my HVM 001 side pistol, my body tensing as 6 shots at the shambling zombie, three shots hitting its chest and head, and the other 3 hitting nothing but air.
But those three hits did the trick as the dark gray skinned zombie dropped like a sack of bricks.
"Okay so the shamblers are real, good thing these zombies are slow right now, so system… now can you tell me exactly how I got here?"
[of course, so while you were asleep a gas leak caused by a faulty gas main leaked into the hotel you were sleeping in, the other tenants are okay thanks to a tanant's dog noticed in time, sadly you didn't make it since the gas leak started in your hotel room.]
"Oh." I say to myself as I see more shamblers coming, with a few that were faster than the shamblers, their skin was almost chalk white and were more muscular than the average man.
[a mission has been issued!]
[mission- survive the tutorial mission onslaught.]
[you have found yourself in the Aartis space station in the year 3104, an infected person turned and after an hour the entire space station went offline with you as the sole survivor.]
[objective: survive the entirely of onslaught, and remember you don't have an extra life so if you die here, you die.]
[reward: strongboxes(x?), +2000$, a house key]
[failure: death]
[good luck, jason Hayes]
-chapter end-
So I know the flashback sequence was proabably all over the place, but this is a work of fiction so what I say goes.
But besides that I did find SAS lore and the events happen in the year 3104 so the weapons are armor are way more advanced.
And the SAS system will be like the SAS 4 app, and I will give out multiversal quests so that Jason will gain weapons outside of the SAS game.
But I hope this beginning is better than the original version.
