Chapter 46 - Monster

When I entered the city, I was amazed by what I saw.

Everything was truly beautiful. The city was vast.

The buildings were arranged in a beautifully and perfectly engineered way.

There were blue waterfalls falling from the sky.

You couldn't see them from the outside, but they were clearly visible from the inside.

There were many soldiers everywhere around us.

There was a large market after the gate, and many happy people with those damned smiles on their faces.

Shard and I began asking anyone about the Star Institute.

Everyone looked at us, laughed, and walked away without answering the question.

I really wanted to cut off the heads of these fools, but what could I do? This place was not suitable for that.

Afterward, I found Shard looking at me, smiling broadly.

"Why are you smiling?"

"Look there," he said, pointing with his finger at something.

I looked in the direction he was pointing and found a building within the city walls, taller than the outer wall.

There were six large stars on it.

And written in large letters:

Star Institute

Now I understood why everyone laughed when they saw us. How did we miss this damned thing from the beginning?

Shard and I quickly headed to the institute. We raced through the market, jumping over others and breaking some things.

On the way, we looked at each other and smiled. When we finally arrived, we found a long line of people.

We stood at the end of it for over two hours.

After a long while, we reached the gate of the institute. The gate was a portal.

I was astonished to see that the institute was not behind those walls.

But why were they there?

There was a man with white skin and blue hair asking only one question:

"Specialization?"

He would place his hand on them.

Then he would say, "Inside" or "Outside."

Status:

Name: Rashad

Level: 100

Specialization: Air Mage

Ability: Perception

It was Shard's turn. He looked at me and said,

"Good luck. If you're rejected, continue living in the city, and I'll try to reach you."

The man asked Shard the same question:

"Specialization?"

"Warrior."

He placed his hand on Shard. When he did, his face showed extreme shock and fear. In a trembling voice, he said,

"Inside."

It was the first time the man's expression had changed.

After Shard looked at me and smiled, he entered and disappeared.

Now it was my turn.

The man looked at me and said,

"What do you want, kid?"

"What do you think? I'm standing in front of you now and was in line like everyone else moments ago. So, what do you think I want?" I said, with a look of anger and challenge on my face.

The man's expression didn't change.

He then asked me,

"Specialization?"

"Mage."

He placed his hand on me. I watched him to see his reaction, but what I found was strange. I didn't understand what he was doing, but I believed he was sensing energy.

His face showed a look of shock and confusion.

He raised his hand and placed it again.

But the shock on his face didn't change; it intensified after he confirmed what he felt the first time.

Instead of saying "Inside" or "Outside," he looked at me and said,

"Are you a monster?"
