Jin woke up the next morning and realized he didn't feel the usual back pain he was used to.
"Ahh, these rich people… this bed is insanely comfortable."
Although he felt comfortable, he was still depressed and mentally exhausted. He kept staring at the ceiling for a while.
"Well, what am I going to do now?"
"With that old man gone, I really don't have anything to do."
Jin got out of bed and went outside, looking around the medical complex.
There weren't many people inside probably because he was somehow in the section reserved for the wealthy or those in high positions.
"This place is really big for so few people."
Most of the medical rooms he passed by were empty, and there were very few nurses on duty.
He asked a few of them if they knew where Elena had gone, but everyone gave the same answer that no one know, and none of them wanted to talk to him for long.
Jin didn't really care who Elena was, but from the way she spoke with Park, she seemed important. So he decided to ask her some questions he had in mind.
The reason he wanted to find Elena instead of looking for Park was simple, he was still terrified of him after what happened the night before.
Park was unbelievably powerful. Jin hadn't imagined not even in his wildest dreams that a human could be that strong.
He kept moving until he found the exit of the medical complex, where he saw a group of people leaning against the wall.
Their clothes indicated that they were soldiers.
Jin approached them and asked, "Hello, can you tell me where I am?"
They looked at him and replied, "You're in the medical complex of the VTO2 military facility."
Jin didn't really understand what the name of the military facility meant, but he didn't pay much attention to it.
"Do you know where I can find Elena?" he asked them.
They looked at each other before one replied, "Elena? There are dozens of girls with that name."
"Oh, right. She's 29 years old and ahh she is pretty, with long red hair… and she is kind but she annoying too."
Jin's description of Elena was really awful, since he wasn't used to dealing with girls, let alone describing them.
But somehow, they understood what he meant.
One of them scratched his chin. "Oh, you mean Captain Elena. If you're looking for her, she's in the back training grounds,"
he said, pointing toward the training area.
"Ah ok thank you for your help."
Jin then made his way to the training grounds.
The military facility was massive, with a large number of people training in pairs. Jin was impressed by what he saw.
"Wow, they are good."
He continued moving around until he found Elena training alone.
"Oh, Elena, I—"
Jin stopped, amazed by what he was looking at.
She moved with incredible agility, wielding her slender sword beautifully and swiftly. Her sword sliced through the air with sharp precision. Every strike was clean, controlled, and fast.
It wasn't just her skill that caught his attention. She was wearing a black crop top and short black shorts that barely reached her thighs.
Her body was covered in sweat, especially around her chest.
Elena's appearance was truly tempting and aroused a strange feeling of instinct within Jin, but he quickly forced himself to ignore it.
Elena noticed him and smiled. "Oh, hello. How are you?"
Jin tried to avert his gaze a little and replied, "I'm doing well, I guess."
Elena put her sword away and sat on the ground beside him. "So, what brings you here? Did you miss me already?"
"Hah-ha, wh-what? No, no, you misunderstood."
"I'm just here to ask you some questions, nothing more," Jin laughed awkwardly.
Elena stifled her laughter and said, "Oh, and what do you want to ask me?"
Jin sat on the ground with an awkward cough. "Uhemm… first, can you tell me about the creature that killed my grandfather?"
He already knew Elena had information about the creature since he assumed she was someone important.
"Alright, I'll tell you, but first you need to know a bit about the Chaos Beings."
Jin nodded. "I've heard a little from my grandfather about them. All I know is that they appeared because of that child, the son of that bad Saint."
Elena replied, "Oh, do you mean Darko?"
Jin was startled by her words and shouted, "Wh-why are you mentioning his name, you idiot? You'll lose your sight!"
Elena tilted her head slightly, puzzled. "My sight? Why?"
Jin quickly responded, "Don't you know, that when someone mentions his name, they go blind?"
Elena burst into laughter. "Wait, wait, is that what your grandfather told you?" Her laughter grew more intense.
Jin flustered. "Yes, that's what he told me."
Elena continued laughing. "Ha-ha, I think your grandfather was playing with you." She tried to stifle her laughter but couldn't.
"Ha-ha, sorry, sorry. Look at my eyes they're fine, don't worry."
Jin, exasperated and red-faced from embarrassment, muttered,
"This fucking old man. I would really want to kill him… Oh, but he's already dead. Fuck you for dying before I could kill you myself."
Elena wiped the tears from her eyes from laughing so hard and gasped. "Phew, I haven't laughed like that in a long time. Thank you."
Jin glared at her. "You're not welcome."
Elena smiled a little, then adjusted her posture to speak seriously this time. "Alright, enough joking around. Let me tell you a bit about them."
"Chaos creatures often emerge from gates that appear randomly, but most of those gates tend to appear more frequently in the southern part of the central plains."
"The rank of these gates varies, but they all share several common features."
"All gates always have at least some of the first-ranked creatures, which includes all sorts of chaos monsters like Goblins, Minotaurs, Siren Heads, Orcs, and many more."
"All first-ranked creatures are easy to kill if you have an Awakening ability. But, there's one rare category within the first type called Gargoyle Statues."
"These creatures are extremely difficult to kill, and sometimes they can be even harder to deal with than second-ranked creatures."
"Second-ranked creatures, considered dangerous, are known as Corrupted Leaders."
"The monster that killed your grandfather was a Corrupt Leader. They're known for their brutal strength and their ability to control all first-type chaos creatures."
"Then there is the third-ranked creatures and they're called the corrupted demons."
"Killing such ranked creatures requires numerous commanders and saints at the very least."
"For example, this category includes corrupted giants, corrupted griffins, and corrupted serpents. Despite their different forms, they all belong to the demon category."
"The fourth-ranked is considered impossible and they are called the fallen angels."
"In all of human history, only one of the four confirmed Fallen Angels has been killed, while the other three still roam freely across the continents."
Jin frowned slightly. "How do you kill those fallen angels?"
Elena sighed and replied, "It requires hundreds of saints at least, which seems impossible at present."
"Maybe you don't know, but saints don't really like each other enough to sacrifice everything to kill a fallen angel in another continent."
Jin looked at her, thinking, Well, that sucks.
"And finally, there is the fifth type."
Elena sighed, her eyes filled with hopelessness. "Only one has been confirmed throughout history, currently known as Darko."
"He has never been defeated. He was pure evil, and no matter how hard humans tried, they couldn't kill him. He is immortal."
"Immortal?" Jin asked while scratching his nose.
"Yes, he is immortal."
Jin stopped thinking for a little bit, then asked her,
"My grandfather told me that some people believe he is already dead and some others don't believe that, Why do you think he is immortal?"
Elena answered, "Well, it is true and false at the same time. Although he is immortal, he can also die."
"It's difficult for me to explain how because there is nothing logical about him. But he is immortal unable to be defeated or erased from existence."
Jin looked at her, not understanding what she meant. "That doesn't make sense."
He hesitated slightly before asking, "Anyway, how does one become awakened?"
Elena smiled and replied, "Oh, what a lovely question, but I can't answer it right now."
Jin looked at her and asked, "Why not?"
She smiled, gently running her hand through his hair. "I don't want to spoil the fun for you in Lucaria, do I?"
"You're so annoying."
Elena chuckled softly and said, "Alright, alright, I have to get back to training now."
"If you want, you can head to the outer courtyard and look for Commander Morgan. He'll help you improve your fitness and give you some advice to become stronger."
Jin nodded. "Alright, I'll go see him. Thank you for your time."
