"A ghost?" Heath looked around the empty restaurant. Officer Jenny Kim was nowhere to be seen. In the past, Heath would have assumed she was hiding, but now he knew she had completely vanished.
Impressive—performing a disappearing act right in front of him. Upon reflection, Heath realized that although he had seen Officer Jenny Kim a few times, he had never touched her, and she always appeared in places where sunlight couldn't reach.
Heath decided to ask Officer Jenny Maple later if there had ever been an Officer Jenny named Kim in Viridian City. He suspected Kim had died there.
With a complicated feeling, Heath took a small disc from his pocket. It was a tiny disc, similar to a TM, but it was blank.
[Custom Move Creator, an extremely rare item. Use it to solidify a move for a Pokémon to learn (must be logical). Only available after serving a very rare guest.]
Reading the lengthy note, Heath was stunned. He never thought he'd get so lucky. According to the description, this item allowed the creation of a new move. But what did "must be logical" mean? Heath was puzzled.
The first thing Heath thought of when he got the move creator was the Spirit Bomb from Dragon Ball, where Goku asked friends on Earth and beyond to lend him their energy. It was cool and powerful.
[Spirit Bomb entry failed, not in line with the world's basic rules.]
Heath's mouth twitched. If he could record Spirit Bomb, he would have gone to kick Lance's butt and demanded he move the Elite Four's throne. If not, he'd unleash a Spirit Bomb.
"Must be in line with the world's basic rules?" Heath rubbed his chin. So that meant…
[Frozen World can be recorded. Proceed?]
Heath quickly shook his head. Kyurem's Frozen World was impressive, but he didn't want his Pokémon to learn it. He figured he might get TMs from serving more Legendary Pokémon in the future.
Since the move creator was such a rare item, Heath felt it would be a waste to use it carelessly.
"What move should I create?" Heath pondered, then remembered the Heaven and Earth Supreme Blade he had obtained earlier.
[Sword Draw Slash can be recorded. Proceed?]
"Perfect!" Heath exclaimed, clapping his hands. He agreed, and immediately felt an immense power watching him. The feeling vanished in the next second.
The move creator in Heath's hand changed appearance.
[Sword Draw Slash, Fighting-type move. User remains in a sword-drawing stance. When the opponent's attack is about to hit, the user counters, avoiding damage and dealing damage to the opponent. Increases Attack by one stage (Farfetch'd).]
"It actually worked!" Heath looked at the move creator in disbelief. It was a Fighting-type move, which was very impressive and seemed quite powerful.
And it was exclusive to Farfetch'd. Heath handed the move creator to Farfetch'd, who quickly learned the move.
"There's some time left. Charmander, Farfetch'd, let's have a battle to test the new move," Heath said, checking his phone. There were still a few minutes before the Officer Jennys returned to the dormitory area.
Heath wanted to test how well Farfetch'd had learned the move.
Charmander and Farfetch'd followed Heath outside to an open area.
"Farfetch'd, use Sword Draw," Heath instructed. Farfetch'd positioned the leek at his waist.
"Charmander, use Ember on Farfetch'd. Farfetch'd, counter just before Ember hits you," Heath commanded. Charmander spat a small flame, but Farfetch'd put away the leek too early. Fortunately, Farfetch'd's Shield ability prevented injury.
Heath frowned. The move required precise timing.
After a few more attempts, on the fourth try, Farfetch'd successfully countered with a Sword Draw Slash, creating a leek shadow and increasing its momentum.
Heath rubbed his chin. The move was unique. It functioned like Protect but allowed for a counterattack, essentially a stronger version of Protect, though it demanded precise timing.
"Keep practicing," Heath said, leading Farfetch'd back to the kitchen. His goal wasn't to be a trainer but an excellent chef. Teaching Farfetch'd Sword Draw Slash was a spur-of-the-moment idea. He might get another custom move creator in the future, perhaps for Dragon Ascent.
Yes, fulfilling his dream of playing Monster Hunter in the Pokémon world was now complete. It was a shame he couldn't use the moves himself, Heath thought regretfully.
After busying himself in the kitchen for a while, the Officer Jennys returned, looking tired. A day of minding their behavior had worn them out.
Heath awkwardly served the food, unsure how to explain seeing Officer Jenny Kim, whom he had initially thought was a supervisor, only to find she was a ghost.
"Sister Maple, do you know the names of all the Officer Jennys who have served in Viridian City?" Heath asked while serving Officer Jenny Maple.
"Hmm? I've read some of our city's records," Officer Jenny Maple replied, puzzled by Heath's question.
"Are there any who have… passed away?" Heath asked nervously.
"No, Viridian City has never had such an incident," Officer Jenny Maple shook her head. Heath sighed in relief; Kim wasn't from Viridian City.
So why was she in Viridian City? Heath couldn't figure it out. He guessed ghosts could roam freely.
