Wufu and Ah Jiu arrived at the cellar where the man was imprisoned. The dead soldier was hanging from the wall, his jaw dislocated, his face grotesquely elongated, covered in scars—evidence of torture and forced interrogation.
Seeing Wufu and company approach, the dead soldier's lips curled into a disdainful smile, as if his eyes were silently saying, go ahead, kill me if you can, but don't expect to extract anything from my mouth.
Wufu glanced around the cellar, ignoring the dead soldier, and instructed Chi Wu beside him, "Go fetch a few lamps and light up this cellar brightly."
Chi Wu, not understanding, obediently complied.
The dead soldier was also full of doubts. What was this woman planning? Did she think that lighting up the cellar would make him talk? Ridiculous!
Chi Wu quickly had several lamps brought in, making the small cellar as bright as day.
"Bring a chair and take him down," Wufu said again.
Chi Wu complied.
