Ah Jiu made a special effort to return and spend New Year's Eve with Wufu and her son without notifying Wufu beforehand, wanting to give her a surprise.
Wufu was indeed very surprised. The two had been apart for more than two months. Aside from worrying about him, she missed him terribly but chose not to express it due to the bigger picture at stake.
Watching Ah Jiu finish a bowl of chicken noodle soup, Wufu asked, "Was it enough? Should I ask someone to bring another bowl?"
"It was enough. In another hour, it will be time for the reunion dinner. A small bite for now will do." Ah Jiu pulled her close, scrutinized her closely, and said, "You look much healthier now, even a bit chubbier than before."
Wufu chuckled lightly, "I eat and sleep all day, like a pig. How could I not gain weight?"
"A little chubbier would be even better." Holding her hand, Ah Jiu felt the chill in her fingers, his heart darkened a bit, but he said nothing.
