Mother Jing didn't have many people on her side of the family, and she'd divorced her husband when Jing Sitian was still little. All these years it had just been mother and daughter depending on each other, with practically no relatives, so they rarely had any guests over.
Mother Lin rifled through the bags in Mother Jing's hands and took a glance. As expected, they were packed full—chicken, duck, fish, and meat, all bought. She couldn't help but frown. "So fancy. Just what kind of guest are you entertaining?"
Mother Jing didn't want to waste time with Mother Lin here, so she took her leave. "I'm in a hurry to get home and cook. Goodbye."
But Mother Lin grabbed her in one go, picking a fight out of nowhere. "Listen, Sitian's Mother, even though our Lin Lei and your Sitian broke up, we can't just leave it at that. We still have to sit down and talk this through."
Mother Jing asked in confusion, "They've already broken up. What's left to talk about?"
