Alabasta – On the Way to Nanohana
Sending his horse away, Koza argues as he approaches the group, "Maybe he was already coming to Nanohana when you sent that letter, and he still hasn't received it."
"Very unlikely, my father doesn't give speeches just for the sake of giving speeches, if there's nothing to add, he prefers not to go public! And with all this rebellion and dissatisfaction among the people, he would only go public if he was certain of what was happening behind the scenes, and without my letter, there's no way he would know that", frowning even more, Vivi rebuts; her father was not the kind of ruler who gave speeches without having something important to say.
Interrupting the conversation, Nami comments, thinking about the possibility of her companions being connected to this 'abnormal quickness', "There's always the possibility that Sabo, Nojiko, and Kaya brought your father to Nanohana using Soru, right?"
"Yes, maybe that's it! Anyway, standing here talking in the middle of the desert won't solve anything, get on Chouchou, Koza!", Vivi nods in agreement before turning to Koza and saying with a bit of urgency.
"Who is Chouchou?", Koza asks in doubt; he didn't know the group, so it was understandable that he didn't know who was who.
Pointing to the giant white wolf, Vivi takes the chance to ask Chouchou if what she had done was okay, "This is Chouchou! By the way, is it okay to give him a ride on your back, too, buddy?"
"Woof woof, woof woof woof woof woof, woof!" "You guys are light, one more won't make any difference at all, hop on!", Chouchou responds, relaxed as always. Besides, it was a bit late to ask that question; Koza had already sent his horse away, so if Chouchou didn't give him a ride, Vivi's friend would be left on foot.
Before anyone could question it, Chopper intervenes and translates what Chouchou said, "He told us to hop on quickly, and that one more doesn't make a difference."
As there was nothing else to discuss and they were in a hurry, Koza, followed by those who still didn't know how to use Soru, gets on Chouchou's back so they could continue their journey.
Not even a second later, the Straw Hats plus Koza disappear using Soru, blowing up the dune where they were.
Meanwhile, a few minutes behind them, two officers of the rebel army were trying to catch up to Koza, who had gone ahead of them in a hurry.
At a certain moment, while galloping at full speed, the two spot a horse coming toward them quickly.
"That...", upon seeing the horse, one of the officers yells amid the wind and dust, starting to slow down his mount.
Decreasing his speed as well, the other officer shouts back while watching the horse that Koza had taken pass by them, returning to the rebel base "Yeah, it's the horse that Koza took."
"Do you think something happened to him?", the first officer asks, worried.
"No idea, but let's keep going, he shouldn't be very far", the second officer suggests, seeing that there wasn't much else to do besides moving forward.
But even speeding up their pace, they end up not finding Koza at all, so, not knowing what else to do, the two decide to continue on their way to Nanohana, hoping to find him there by some miracle.
=Scene Break=
Meanwhile, arriving in Nanohana, the Straw Hats with Koza riding along enter the city quickly.
"Sabo, Kaya and Nojiko aren't in the city", Nami comments as they run through the streets of the city, the presence of the group drawing people's attention because of Chouchou in his hybrid form, many of them even seeming terrified.
Jumping off Chouchou's back after managing to orient himself, Koza asks while running alongside the group, "What the hell was that? How did we get here so fast?"
"It's a technique that lets us move ridiculously fast", Usopp responds, summarizing quickly without giving many details.
Meanwhile, Vivi, Robin, and Chopper also jump off Chouchou's back to accompany the group on foot, which allows the giant white wolf to return to his basic form.
"Are you sure?", turning her gaze to Nami, Vivi asks seriously.
"Yes, they're not in the city", Nami responds, certain of what she saw with her Observation.
Of course, Sabo could have shut down her Observation, but there was no reason or need for him to do that, so it was very unlikely that she saw anything wrong.
"Then it's not my father", Vivi says confidently; all of this was very strange and she knew Mr. 2 had her father's face, so only one answer existed in her mind for all this strangeness.
"What will we do then? Are we going to attack as soon as we spot him?", Chopper asks, running beside the group.
"...Yes", Vivi responds with a simple yes, resolute in her decision. If it really was her father, she would apologize afterward.
A brief silence follows after Vivi says this, then, taking advantage of the pause, Usopp says, pointing to a specific direction in the city, "There's a crowd gathering over that way; it's also where the strongest presences in the city are."
The group then quickly starts running in the direction that was pointed out, arriving quickly at a crowded square, at the exact moment a voice begins to give a speech.
In the middle of the square was King Cobra, Vivi's father; around him, a contingent of royal guards provided his protection while a crowd of curious citizens surrounded them.
Quickly pushing through the crowd, the Straw Hats and Koza gain a clear view of King Cobra and the royal guards. At that moment, seeing neither Pell nor Chaka anywhere, Vivi, now absolutely certain that the man in front of her was not her father, runs at the 'King' at full speed, and in the blink of an eye, delivers a punch to his face with all her strength, knocking him to the ground with force, shocking everyone. "Citizens, I, King Cobra, come before you because I have an apology to make… BAMMMMMMM!!!"
"Urghhh... who? Who was the bastard that hit my porcelain face?", getting up in anger, King Cobra, or rather, Mr. 2, since his transformation had been undone, shouts angrily while everyone stared at him, frozen.
"Do you believe me now, Koza?", Vivi asks, turning her gaze to a stunned Koza.
As if what Vivi said were a cue, everyone comes out of their frozen state and begins to murmur.
"What?"
"Wasn't it the King?"
"What's going on?"
"An impostor?"
And at that moment, the entire city trembles as a tremendous roar comes from the coast; in the distance, it was possible to see a massive ship slowly advancing over the city, destroying everything in its path.
"Wait, you're that girl from that pirate group, aren't you? Why did you attack me out of nowhere?", looking at where all his men were pointing their weapons, Mr. 2 asks upon recognizing Vivi.
"Don't you dare use my father's face again", Vivi snarls angrily, the ground below her shaking lightly with her mood, ready to unleash a green torrent on top of her enemies.
Completely confused by what Vivi said, Mr. 2 asks, "Your father's face?"
"Wait, is that the..."
"It's Princess Vivi"
"She's back?"
Upon noticing Vivi's presence, people begin murmuring curiously, recognizing her despite her being missing for two years.
"Vivi, can you handle this guy?", Nami suddenly asks, having just sensed something with her Observation.
"Yes", Vivi responds, completely focused on the enemy ahead, she was stronger now and refused to be just another defenseless princess.
"Alright, Usopp, Chouchou, help her if necessary! And Robin, stay with them. Chopper, you're coming with me", Nami then delegates instructions before turning to leave.
Stopping her in the middle of the way, Usopp asks about the reason why she was leaving, "Wait, is it because of those two presences that just appeared in the city?"
"Yeah, they're not strong, but it's good to go check if they're from Baroque Works", Nami replies before leaving with Chopper on her heels.
"Princess Vivi? You're the princess? Well, you certainly have the aura of one! Anyway, what are you doing here, queen? I thought the little zero would deal with you and your little friends, which honestly would be a shame if it happened, I like you guys...", meanwhile, Mr. 2 finally puts the pieces together and starts babbling, only to be interrupted in the middle of his speech.
"Stop talking, you're here to destroy Alabasta, and I'm here to stop you, there's nothing else to be said", Vivi cuts him off, wanting to end this quickly.
Seeing that the princess wanted to fight, Mr. 2 gestures for his men to deal with the others while he himself fights Vivi. "Well, it seems the plan went down the drain anyway, let's fight! You know, I wish we were on the same side, you and the others I met on that cute ship are good people, but unfortunately I'm a loyal queer and will keep my position until the end, I hope we can be friends if we both survive after all this is over"
"Yeah, let's fight!", Vivi says as vines sprout from the ground below each of Mr. 2's subordinates disguised as royal guards and immobilize them with ease.
=Scene Break=
Let's go back a few hours into the past, to Alubarna, more specifically, to the exact moment Luffy and his group arrived in Yuba.
After crossing the island at full speed, barely stopping to rest, Kaya, Nojiko and Sabo, carrying Karoo, arrive at the capital of Alabasta.
Putting Karoo on the ground, the four quickly head to the royal palace, only to be stopped at the entrance as soon as the guards see them approaching.
Blocking the path of the four with their spears, the two guards positioned at the palace entrance say loudly, "Halt, what business do you have in the royal palace?"
"We need to speak with the King, we have a letter from his daughter to deliver", Sabo explains urgently as he stops in front of the guards, taking the letter Vivi left with Karoo and showing it to the two.
"Speak with the King? Hmm? Is that Karoo?", one of the guards murmurs doubtfully, only to notice the presence of the large duck beside Sabo an instant later, recognizing him with just one look.
"That's right, now can you take us to the King?", Kaya confirms with a nod before asking hopefully.
"Hmm, just a moment, I don't have authority for that, I'll notify someone who does! Stay here and don't try anything please", the guard who recognized Karoo says before leaving his position, heading inside the palace to inform someone about the four and the princess's letter.
A few minutes of waiting later, the guard returns, accompanied by a tall man with a hairstyle… exotic, to say the least, basically a bowl cut, something Cleopatra would definitely wear.
"Karoo, it really is you! So that means Vivi is back, right?", upon seeing Karoo, the man asks hopefully.
"Yes, Vivi and the rest of the group are heading to Yuba to stop the rebellion at this very moment, they should have already arrived there by now", Nojiko replies as Karoo nodded in confirmation beside Sabo.
Turning his attention to the three humans, the man introduces himself before asking who they were, "My name is Chaka, I'm acting as captain of the royal guard at the moment, sorry for the question, but who are you?"
"I am Nojiko, this is Kaya and that is Sabo, we are part of the Straw Hat crew, Vivi is our friend and we've been helping her since Whisky Peak", Nojiko extends her hand, introducing herself and the other two to Chaka.
While Chaka shakes Nojiko's hand, Sabo says, explaining the situation, "The group split up in Nanohana, while they headed towards Yuba, the four of us received the mission to come here and deliver a letter from Vivi addressed to the King."
Casting a brief glance at Karoo, who seemed completely comfortable near the three of them, Chaka says before beginning to guide them into the palace, heading to meet the King, "Alright, I'm relieved that Vivi is alive and well, follow me, I'll take you to King Cobra."
