Chapter 394 - CHAPTER 394 - The End of Return

Where did this unfamiliar clan member come from?

Otsutsuki Kaguya was starting to question her own existence. After she had nonchalantly dealt with and bound the native gods, the so-called onmyoji, samurai, and others to the Ten-Tails, suddenly, this person appeared before her.

He carried the aura of their Otsutsuki clan and possessed the Rinne Sharingan after consuming a Chakra Fruit—but he was far stronger than her.

No matter what technique Kaguya used, this unfamiliar Otsutsuki could dodge it effortlessly.

Kaguya used all her trump cards—Combined Killing Gray Bones, Heavenly Seal, Yomi Birasaka, Rabbit Hair Needle, Divine Void Strike—but none inflicted even a scratch on this clan member.

Instead, Kaguya was ruthlessly taught a lesson: a single punch sent her hurtling from a kilometer above into the ground nearly a hundred meters deep, then he grabbed her legs and hurled her across the mountains, smashing three peaks. In midair, she lost control of her body, spinning and crashing uncontrollably, and even one of her horns was broken.

Terrifying!

If this clan member wanted to kill her, Kaguya knew he could. Though she was immortal, anyone with the power of Combined Killing Gray Bones had a chance to break her immortality.

Fear.

After being taught such a lesson, only one emotion remained in Kaguya's heart toward this man.

"To deal with you Otsutsuki, only fists speak the truth. You won't listen when spoken to nicely—you must be beaten into submission to calm down."

Hearing these words from Hyuga Mirai, Kaguya felt a bit wronged. He attacked her from the start, yet now he spoke as if she had done something wrong.

After subduing Kaguya, Hyuga Mirai sat opposite her and asked, "I'm not an Otsutsuki. I just want to ask you something. How does your clan plant God Trees, and is there really such a thing as 'seeds'?"

Plant a God Tree?

You want to use me as a living sacrifice…

Kaguya's thoughts turned to anger and suspicion, but just as she made a subtle move, another hand grabbed the remaining horn on her head.

"That's enough. If you resist again, I won't be so lenient. And none of the Rinne Sharingan techniques I have were even used just now. Answer my question honestly."

Hyuga Mirai shook Kaguya's horn, warning her, and continued, "Speak quickly. If you think the beating wasn't enough…"

How could it not be enough? Each punch carried seven chakra nature changes. Kaguya's face was still bruised. To heal, she would need her immortality to slowly expel Mirai's chakra.

"I have already eaten a Chakra Fruit. It's not suitable…"

Hyuga Mirai frowned, cutting her off. "That's not what I asked. Just answer honestly."

Seeing his serious expression, Kaguya shivered. Reflecting on the pain she endured and her helplessness before Mirai, she closed her eyes for a moment, then finally answered.

God Trees do indeed have so-called "seeds"—saplings separated from the mother tree. They must absorb immense natural energy on a life planet, and an Otsutsuki with the clan's bloodline must act as a sacrifice for the tree to produce Chakra Fruits suitable for the Otsutsuki.

Without a living Otsutsuki sacrifice, the tree will grow naturally and might produce Chakra Fruits even Otsutsuki cannot consume, which would explode the body upon ingestion—or the tree could become a Ten-Tails without bearing fruits.

As for Kaguya, she still had a sapling from the mother tree. But without a living Otsutsuki, she could never plant another God Tree.

Her status in the clan was lower than Isshiki's—she was a planter and a sacrifice. But unwilling to be eaten by the Ten-Tails, Kaguya ambushed Isshiki' and ate a Chakra Fruit herself.

After explaining, Kaguya nervously looked at Mirai, hoping he wouldn't insist on using her as a sacrifice. She had told him everything—his origin, clan information, and God Tree planting details—trusting he would keep his word.

"Hand over the sapling."

Mirai took the God Tree sapling from Kaguya, smiling with satisfaction:

"Good. Let's pretend I never appeared here."

With that, Mirai left via Yomi Birasaka.

Seeing Mirai leave decisively, Kaguya was stunned. She rolled her eyes to survey the surroundings. Once Mirai was gone, she exhaled in relief.

Zetsu!

The Ninja World must be unified, and Zetsu cultivation must be intensified. Only by cultivating special Zetsu helpers could she face future threats. Without allies, Kaguya would never stand a chance against future intruders.

Kaguya resolved to accelerate Zetsu cultivation. Once she adapted to chakra, she would reclaim the chakra from Hagoromo and Hamura. Once all chakra was recovered and many Zetsu were cultivated, she would settle the score with this person. Kaguya, beaten so badly for the first time, even needed half a day to recover her broken horn.

Mirai gained much valuable information from Kaguya, including info on the Pure Land and collected onmyoji techniques. His trip to the past was highly fruitful.

The items he took would not reappear for a millennium, affecting later generations minimally, if at all. As for Kaguya, she would only grow fearful, speeding up Zetsu cultivation.

Other than sending White Snake away from Ryūchi Cave, Mirai ignored even the fleeing Gamamaru.

Upon Mirai's return, Tsunade was outraged but realized she was still in his hands. A bad expression could worsen her situation. She forced a smile and said, "Mirai…"

"Your expression looks like you want to eat me. Planning to get me to release you first?"

Though teasing, Mirai returned Tsunade's demand chakra. Once freed, she angrily wanted to attack, but Mirai, experienced with her temperament, revealed the sapling before her.

"What's this?"

Tsunade's attention was immediately diverted. Watching Mirai reveal the sapling, she sensed the Rinne Sharingan stir slightly.

"A God Tree sapling, an immature Ten-Tails."

Hearing Mirai, Tsunade nodded with interest: "I see. You want to study this sapling. But natural energy in the Ninja World probably isn't enough to grow another Ten-Tails."

"Don't limit your vision. A life planet's energy is tiny; the nearby universe's stars hold far more energy."

Mirai chuckled. Though slow, his God Tree cultivation using stellar energy would make great progress with this sapling.

"If research succeeds, you'll get the first Chakra Fruits."

"Really? You remembered me… Wait, are you experimenting on me? Are you sure?"

"Tsunade, I'm disappointed—you don't even trust me?"

Seeing Mirai's sincerity, Tsunade felt guilty, realizing he had been considerate, but she still complained, "You hung me from a tree earlier."

"I'll treat you to a drink when we return."

"Deal!" Tsunade clapped Mirai's shoulder, the frustration dissipating. He was a decent guy; the earlier incident wasn't worth dwelling on.

Mirai smiled at her reaction. Handling Tsunade was easy—he could even give her extra tasks later. Then, he and Tsunade left.

News of the battlefield would reach elsewhere. Remaining onmyoji and samurai would either hide or make a last stand against Kaguya. But even if they hid, Kaguya would likely hunt them down.

After being beaten by Mirai, she felt more insecure. Zetsu cultivation might accelerate. Once the world was unified, where could they hide, except among the summon beast clans?

Mirai and Tsunade's clones were gradually returning. Though there was no news of Isshiki, many rare manuals on natural energy cultivation had been copied and stored.

Once Hinata returned, they could search for Isshiki. Mirai's plan spanned 10–45 days; beyond that, adverse reactions could occur.

Just as Mirai considered changing his search method for Otsutsuki Ichiki, Orochimaru sent a surprise.

"Orochimaru, you hid this from me? That's too much."

After emerging from Yomi Birasaka, Mirai's first words were a complaint. Orochimaru had been searching for Jigen for days but claimed no success.

Mirai then saw someone lying beside Orochimaru, face full of anger. Curious, he asked,

"What happened to him?"

"An accident. The poison I gave him was latent, but something he ate triggered it prematurely. That's why he's like this."

Orochimaru smiled. Jigen was unlucky today. A slight negligence caused his body to stiffen and collapse on a fire. Later, the triggering item had been consumed by him; otherwise, Orochimaru could have retrieved more.

"Orochimaru…"

Jigen, filled with hatred, struggled to speak. After Kaguya's ambush, and now a local, he was clearly targeted. He had just trained Jigen into a vessel, unprepared for conflict.

Humiliation twisted his features. He had been played like a monkey by a lowly local.

Mirai glanced at Jigen, then smiled: "Seems Isshiki holds a grudge. What have you done these days?"

Orochimaru laughed: "Just a little playacting. But Isshiki took it seriously."

After teasing Isshiki, Mirai stopped as Jigen's anger rose. He said,

"Isshiki, I need intel from you. Cooperate, and you'll be spared. Resist, and you won't survive to find food like a noble Isshiki should."

Mirai extended chakra threads, linking them to Jigen. Though immobilized, Jigen slowly rose with their aid, half-kneeling.

This posture enraged Jigen further—he, a noble Otsutsuki, a god of this planet, reduced to an animal before a local.

"Tell me the intel, Isshiki. Otherwise, when you face the gods, I cannot imagine your fate. And your deeds may reach Kaguya's ears."

Mirai spoke sincerely: "But if you reveal the intel, today's events will stay secret, and your life is guaranteed. Would you rather be controlled like a pet and die failing your mission?"

Mirai's words made Jigen angry and thoughtful about planting a God Tree and revenge on Kaguya. If not for that fool, how could a noble Otsutsuki fall so low?

"How can I trust you?"

"You must trust me, Isshiki."

Mirai smiled. Jigen, besides longevity, had no strength and required nutrition to recover.

"I understand. Ask whatever you want."

Bloodshot eyes, gritted teeth—Isshiki, torn between mission and revenge, finally agreed.

After receiving intel on the Otsutsuki homeworld, mother tree, and other clan members, Mirai kept his word and released Isshiki.

But this humiliated Isshiki further—he never imagined he'd survive by selling clan information.

"Tsunade, you only saw this? You claimed to see much more, really just to time-travel?"

Once Isshiki left, Mirai asked Tsunade curiously.

"Impossible. I saw many things, and I'm here to correct unnecessary actions." Though confident, Tsunade's slight head turn betrayed nervousness.

"Anyway, we gained what we needed. If nothing else, let's return. Orochimaru, any tasks left?"

Orochimaru shook his head: "No, Mirai. Just send me the results; I'll study them." He had some guesses to verify.

Indeed, Isshiki, though intended to become a vessel by Orochimaru, answered most questions.

As for Hinata, she copied all the onmyoji techniques she wanted. But just as she prepared to leave, some toads arrived and took all the inherited onmyoji collections.

Hinata watched briefly but did nothing, then left.

Toads' affairs were not her concern—they were inevitable. Onmyoji would weaken and vanish over a decade, and summon beast clans would surpass ninjas.

Once Hinata returned, Mirai planned to compile the results. This time-travel yielded much valuable material. He already had plenty to keep him busy.
