"No!" Vice President Anderson said indifferently, "I'm just stating the truth and have no intention of threatening anyone. If you take it as a threat, then I'm quite aggrieved."
"That was clearly a threat!"
"Mr. President, we are all adults here, so let's just say, if I am threatening you, what can you do about it?" Vice President Anderson smiled at him, maintaining the demeanor of a gentleman, yet his words were far from polite. The President was furious, clenching his fists—him, the President of the United States, being threatened in the White House? It would be a laughing stock if it got out.
"Not long now, the election will take place. Why oppose me?" The Vice President said calmly, "If I am elected, it won't cause you any loss. But Roosevelt, that's another story. If you support a third person, you should see if they can survive until the election day."
