Tong Ran's throat tightened, but her mouth was held open by a device to prevent biting her tongue or shouting. She opened her mouth, yet no sound came out.

Tong Ran felt the scorching gaze roaming back and forth over her body. She tried to move, and the chains on her wrists and ankles jingled with a metallic sound.
The man beside the bed let out something resembling a chuckle, but Tong Ran couldn't quite hear it clearly in the darkness of the room. She couldn't see his face, but she could sense his movements.
